We are seeking a part-time Library Aide for the 2024 - 2025 school year and beyond to join our team at Miami Whitewater Elementary School.
This position will work 8 hours per week.
Job Summary :
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Help students locate reference materials and other instructional materials.Operate the circulation desk.
Write notices concerning overdue books.Replace books and media materials in proper storage when they are returned.Operate equipment and apparatus as requested by the librarian.
Read to small groups of students.Help to maintain bulletin boards and other library displays.Process orders, forms, schedules, catalog cards, etc.
Monitor attendance in the library and keep attendance records.Assist the librarian in maintaining proper student discipline.
Make simple repairs on damaged books and materials, process more severely damaged items for repair at the appropriate places.
Prepare materials for reserve on teachers' request and maintain the reserve collection.
Maintain files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publisher catalogs, etc.Prepare current magazines for shelving and maintain the back-number stacks.
Assist in the annual inventory of library materials, and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.
Shelve incoming books.Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator.
