Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our team. As an Accounting Associate, you will be responsible for assisting in managing financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in balance sheet reconciliation, governmental accounting, financial auditing, and public accounting. Proficiency in accounting software such as Quickbooks is required. This position also involves mentoring junior staff members.
Duties:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Conduct financial audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Collaborate with internal teams to analyze financial data and provide insights
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards
- Assist with the preparation of tax returns
- Mentor junior staff members and provide guidance on accounting principles
- Work on LIHTC projects, including monitoring compliance and preparing necessary documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA certification is preferred
- Proven experience in governmental accounting, financial auditing, and public accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as Quickbooks
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
