Job Summary:

1. Processes and records the Agency’s payroll timely and accurately. Duties include:

  • Responds to inquiries from Agency personnel regarding payroll matters.
  • Provides procedural instruction regarding payroll and timekeeping.
  • Enters and processes employee time, payroll adjustments, garnishments and pay cards.
  • Processes payroll transactions accurately and timely.

2. Represents the Agency in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the general public, supporting the agency Vision of creating sustainable communities that thrive through the fullest participation of their diverse residents.

3. Furthers the organizational commitment to triple bottom line results: integrating social, economic and environmental goals into thinking, planning and actions.

Essential Functions:

Communication

  • Responds to inquiries from Agency personnel regarding payroll matters.
  • Provides procedural instruction regarding payroll and timekeeping.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal customers regardless of their areas of responsibility in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information generated or gathered.
  • Conducts Payroll training for managers.

Knowledge

  • Performs duties in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations and Goodwill’s philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Understands proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  • Working knowledge of computerized timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Resolves Payroll problems and exceptions in timely fashion.

Administration

  • Enters and processes employee time, payroll adjustments, garnishments and pay cards.
  • Processes payroll transactions accurately and timely.
  • Maintains Agency payroll information in HRIS database.
  • Prepares reporting for employees, managers, vendors and tax agencies when necessary.
  • Develops ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Understanding of Goodwill NNE policies.

Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality relative to payroll.

  • Successfully pass a criminal background check that meets agency standards.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Ultimate Software or similar Payroll systems.
