Uppercrust, the premier bakery in North Florida, seeks a closing shift lead baker!
This position assumes no baking-specific experience. 2 years of commercial kitchen experience is a must.
You will be trained on our closing shift lead responsibilities and will be expected to work in that capacity for six months, through the Christmas holiday.
After this time, our aim is to train you on the stations within our croissant department, followed by opening kitchen shift lead work. Training in the croissant department involves very early mornings (starting as early as 1am) and the most physically demanding work at the bakery. It is an important gauge for you and us to make sure cross training in every other department (bread, pastry, and bistro) and learning the morning lead's responsibilities is a worthwhile and meaningful time and energy investment.
In your first position, responsibilities include the following:
Curiously, this position has relatively little baking. Relatively! You'll be able to see some facets of other stations' work through prep. This position is suited for someone familiar and adept with proper kitchen workflow, speed, cleanliness, and deadlines, and is very trainable for baking-specific tasks.
Short and long term, a candidate for this position should be prepared to do the following:
Benefits include:
Hope to hear from you! If you would like to apply:
Please visit the bakery.
Applying through really is a great way to start the conversation with us, but we require our long form application to be complete before we consider you for interviews.
Please indicate you have read this and will visit either bakery location to apply. (And know that by making it this far and responding to this prompt will already endear you to us and set you apart from other applicants :) ).
