•Assist the Circulation Administrative Specialist daily in pulling book kits to be checked out and shipped.
•Assist the Circulation Administrative Specialist as needed and fill in during absences/vacations.
•Receive large mail bins and carts of incoming State Library materials and transport to processing area.
•Using a computer and hand-held scanner, inspect and check in returned items.
•Using a computer and hand-held scanner, check out outgoing materials.
•Pack book collections in plastic totes, pack totes on carts, tag them for courier, and transport to courier drop off area.
•Check out items in programming and book kits (in large suitcases or large plastic storage boxes), tag them for courier, and transport to courier drop-off area.
•Assist in shelving returned items in correct location—alphabetical order and Dewey Decimal.
•Pull collections of large print books (up to 250) under the supervision of the Patron Services Supervisor.
•Assist with processing library account applications and mailing of library cards/welcome packets. Create mailing labels for welcome packets.
•Check shelves for overdue or missing items.
•Assist with special projects as assigned.
The person in this position will be packing, loading, and shipping plastic totes and suitcases full of books and must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull carts up to several hundred lbs., stand for long periods, reach up to 6 feet, bend, and/or stoop to floor level.
Skills required: basic Microsoft Office, email, data entry, database searching, ability to recognize and place items in numerical and alphabetical order.
The hours are 8-4 Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
