GENERAL OVERVIEW

Job Title: Staff Accountant Status: Full TimeReports to: Controller Location: Framingham, MA

DESCRIPTION/EXPECTATIONS: 

HFBCo is recruiting for a Staff Accountant! The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. This role is integral to the financial health of our company, ensuring that we maintain accurate and timely financial records. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Controller and collaborate closely with other members of the Administration team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Process and verify invoices for accuracy and appropriate approvals.
  • Prepare and execute payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain AP files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and manage vendor relationships.

Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Generate and send out invoices to customers.
  • Record and reconcile incoming payments to customer accounts.
  • Monitor customer accounts for delayed payments and initiate collection efforts as necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute aging reports and AR analysis.
  • Maintain AR files and documentation accurately and comprehensively.

General Accounting:

  • Assist in month-end closing procedures, including reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Assist with audits by providing documentation and information as required.
  • Ensure overall financial compliance - Examine tax policies, manage tax payments/returns and prepare for audits based on regional and industry-specific 
  • Collaborate with Controller to develop and implement efficient processes and controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on AP and AR.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred, not required.
  • Experience in the craft brewing industry preferred, not required.
