Position Purpose
The high school/college Business instructor works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Job Duties

• Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
• Develops and administers Business education curriculum consistent with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives, and consistent with community college objectives.
• Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to enhance learning and to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.

• Ensures effective communication with students and parents.

• Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.
• Selects and requisitions appropriate textbooks; instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; and maintains inventory records.

• Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Head of School.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and keeps informed of current developments in education.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Masters degree in Business or related content-area field AND has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 2000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years*; OR
• Master's degree in any field, AND Bachelor's degree in Business or related content-area field, AND has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 2000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years*
• Applicants must meet all requirements outlined in 1, 2 and 3: 1. Applicant must have either A or B: A. A bachelors or higher degree in any business discipline. OR B. A valid Colorado teacher or alternative teacher license in any secondary (7-12) endorsement area. (Note to alternative candidates: If you qualified for this CTE by obtaining an alternative license and do not successfully complete the alternative program and obtain an initial teacher license, this CTE authorization will be expired the date you discontinue the program.) 2. Content Knowledge (applicant must have either A or B): A. 24 semester hours of related postsecondary coursework from a regionally accredited institution verified on an official transcript with a minimum of three (3) semester hours of coursework in four (4) of the areas listed on the table below. OR B. Passing score on one (1) of the following exams: PLACE #34 (min. score: 220) Passed OR Praxis #5101 (min. score: 154) Passed 3. Occupational Experience (applicant must have either A or B) Credit for student teaching (up to 800 hours) in the content area may be applied to either occupational or teaching experience: A. 2,000 hours of verified occupational experience in the content area OR B.
