General Position Summary

This is a non-exempt position responsible for the direction and support of warehouse associates at the Company’s receiving and distribution operation Erlanger, KY distribution center.


Essential Job Functions

Supervisory

  • Leads a team of ~10-15 warehouse employees.
  • Regularly audits floor operations to ensure work is performed according to procedure and job schedule.
  • Responds to STOP, CALL, WAIT situations involving team members. If a problem cannot be resolved, reports problem to supervisor.
  • Primary trainer of new associates in department. Instructs associates on how to follow procedures and one-point items.
  • Audits team members work as directed by supervisor and management.
  • Responsible for daily supervision of team activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and reviews employees’ work activities through individual meetings and group meetings to ensure that all work activities are proceeding smoothly to plan.
  • Delegates and advises employees on work procedures and practices.
  • Communicates and coordinates information both in writing and orally on a regular basis with both management and staff. May, at times, share information with customers and/or external consultants working on behalf of the Company.


Warehouse Coordination

  • Understands all work procedures of assigned team and perform procedures when team members are absent or during periods of peak customer demand.
  • Substitutes for absent team members
  • Updates training logs for each associate
  • Writes daily reports as directed.
  • Participates in kaizen activities with representatives from other teams.
  • May attend outside meetings such as company group meetings and training seminars for both information sharing and learning purposes.
  • Supervises and controls daily warehouse activities including controlling and receiving flow of inbound materials, put-away of materials to storage areas, receipt of outbound orders, pulling and scanning of outbound orders, banding and staging of outbound orders, cycle counts, cleaning and any other activities as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Assists with supervision of loading dock to make sure loading procedures are followed.
  • Patrols warehouse to ensure 5S procedures are being followed by all warehouse associates. Checks zone maintenance and verifies completion of all assigned duties at the end of the shift.
  • Arranges non-regular shipments from warehouse as directed, including providing instruction to warehouse staff.
  • Monitors associates to ensure that daily tasks are completed in a timely manner. Works with associates and shift supervisor to address any issues that may arise while completing daily work.
  • Works with management to develop improvements in production and safety procedures.
  • Uses a powered forklift, radio-frequency scanner, and applicable computer software to assist with distribution center functions.


Miscellaneous & Other

  • Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
  • Follows up to complete any assigned work.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisor for solution.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisors, staff members and outside contacts.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.
Requirements:

High school diploma or up to two years of college or equivalent experience. A strong candidate will understand all Warehouse Procedures, experience in a warehouse setting, and one to two years of leadership experience. Forklift experience is recommended. Experience with general office equipment including phones, computers, copiers, etc. Experience with Microsoft Office. A strong candidate for this position would demonstrate problem-solving skills, attention to detail, customer service, and dependability.
