Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing and reviewing financial statements, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. Some work from home is acceptable.
Qualifications
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and two years’ experience in accounting, or a related field preferred; non-profit accounting experience is desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise agency data entry and billing functions
Generate monthly Efficiency/Productivity reports and analyses of persons served and units of service
Work closely with CCU, APS, and NHP Supervisors to ensure timely billings
Provide backup and support for payroll, personnel, accounts payable
Prepare staffing reports for management
Perform general accounting functions such as general ledger postings, recording deposits, verifying invoices and reimbursement requests, reconciling accounts
Maintain listing and conduct annual physical inventory of fixed assets
Prepare monthly cash request forms
Assist in preparing the annual agency budget
Assist with grant writing and preparing grant project budgets
Key Skills Required:
Good understanding of accounting practices for non-profit
Ability to analyze data to provide accurate reports
Understanding of accounting software and Excel
Understanding of the rules regulating federal and state grants
Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
Must be able to work efficiently, meet deadlines and work independently
Good written and communication skills
