Nohre & Co., S.C. is Hiring a Controller Near Eau Claire, WI

Nohre & Co. is soliciting on behalf of their client, qualified candidates for a Controller position.

This position is with a rapidly growing construction and property management company in the Chippewa Valley with a visionary team looking to expand its footprint.

POSITION:

The Controller is the primary financial advisor to the CEO and COO. This position is responsible for maintaining the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the company. Position tracks the company’s profit and loss, assets, liabilities, and other related financial activities. Works in conjunction with other department leadership as part of the management group responsible for monitoring the company’s financial performance. Provides financial insight and analysis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

· Previous experience using QuickBooks

· Five years of previous experience working in accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and maintaining general ledger accounts

· Experience with financial statement analysis and advice

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Certified Management Accountant or Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent)

· Previous Controllership experience

· Residential building trades experience

· Familiarity with project management and scheduling platforms

· Experience with strategic planning

· Worked with private equity/third-party capital groups

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Prepares financial summary and management reports; leads monthly review of financial results with management; advise CEO and COO on financial strategies

· Provides financial analysis of periodic financial results; prepare financial projections, forecasts, and budgets on company-wide and business-sector bases

· Oversees bi-weekly payroll; files all payroll tax returns, payment of payroll taxes; retirement plan contributions, garnishments, and benefit premiums; prepare annual W-2 & 1099 filings

· Oversees vendor payment process on a weekly basis; ensures payment within agreed upon time frames; monitors and audits company credit card activity

· Oversees new project contracts and deposits from customers; prepares interim invoices as necessary; closes out projects upon completion; ensures revenue recognition procedures are followed

· Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations; maintains the fixed asset schedules and records new purchases and disposals

· Oversees sales tax reports as required by state; support external accounting firm’s preparation of income tax and other tax filings as required

· Manages and maintains company insurance policies; negotiate with agents and vendors on behalf of company; files for business licenses as required; reviews and processes employee benefit invoicing

· Performs special projects, analysis, and reports as requested

· Preparation of owner personal financial statements

· Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Ability to report and interpret financial data relevant to business operations

· Ability to evaluate financial data and statements and advise the CEO of results of operations

· Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

· Considerable knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and auditing principles (including GAAP standards)

· Creative problem solving and the capacity to learn; applies knowledge and experience

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and outside vendors

· Maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure

· Working knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to accounting practices and reporting systems

· Ability to perform detailed work accurately in compliance with time limits and with minimal direction

· Ability to work independently and demonstrate professional initiative; must be able to work the allocated hours of the position

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
