American Gypsum is Hiring a Manager Plant Near Duke, OK

POSITION SUMMARY

The plant manager is responsible for directing and managing all plant activities. This includes promoting and requiring safe and healthy work conditions and practices while producing high quality wallboard products that meet customer requirements in the most efficient and cost effective manner. This position promotes and enforces American Gypsum philosophies and policies to establish support and organization within the plant including but not limited to the descriptions below.

REGULAR DUTIES

  • Promote and manage an effective safety program that meets American Gypsum Safety Program requirements while ensuring compliance with all OSHA and MSHA regulations. Implement and maintain proactive work habits with all plant personnel to ensure all work is performed in a safe manner.
  • Direct and actively monitor quality program to ensure wallboard meets or exceeds company and ASTM specifications along with meeting customer and market requirements.
  • Implement and enforce all Company policies. Act as a role model in compliance with and enforcement of Company policies for all personnel.
  • Establish goals, objectives, and guidelines covering all phases of plant operations to maintain an efficient, functional, operational, and profitable plant.
  • Select, develop, evaluate, train, and motivate assigned staff to ensure an effective work force, maximum utilization of individual capabilities, and adequate continuity of plant operations.
  • Plan and forecast plant requirements with respect to equipment, manpower, raw materials, and facilities to establish operating budgets and plans to meet projected wallboard sales requirements.
  • Plan and prepare capital and major maintenance budgets to ensure plant operations and equipment are maintained to American Gypsum standards.
  • Initiate and implement new methods and manufacturing techniques to improve production efficiency and product quality while being responsible for plant efficiency goals for % waste, % delay, and line speed.
  • Control and actively manage raw material usage, energy, labor, and maintenance costs to ensure wallboard production is at the lowest cost and achieves monthly plan board cost goals.
  • Assist with the investigation and diagnosis of operating and maintenance problems and implanting corrective measures.
  • Promote and direct a work environment that encourages job satisfaction and the opportunity for personal and professional growth. Encourage positive working relationships between plant employees to ensure a team work environment exists within the facility.
  • Actively participate in the local communities to ensure a positive relationship continues between American Gypsum and the area residents.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with local labor union(s).
  • All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field desired.
  • Seven to ten years of plant managerial experience preferably in a gypsum wallboard environment.
  • A working knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.
  • General working knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic functions of a gypsum mill and wallboard processing equipment.
  • Strong information gathering, process and equipment investigating troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to interact with all levels of plant personnel.
  • Strong team building skills and the ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Ability to plan and make group presentations and conduct meetings for all levels of plant and Company personnel.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient at Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects and timelines.
  • General knowledge of all job functions within the production process.
  • Able to work in an environment with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Physically capable of climbing stairs, ladders, and other means of accessing equipment and work areas to perform inspections of equipment and areas.
  • Adequate vision and hearing as required for safe pedestrian movement throughout the plant facility and for inspection of equipment, facilities, and areas.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills.
  • Able to read electrical and mechanical prints, papers, and reports.
  • Able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must have manual dexterity needed to type on a computer keyboard.

· Continual hand/wrist motion is required to operate computers.

  • Posses and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Occasional local travel in a personal or company vehicle is required.
  • Occasional out of town and overnight travel is required.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed mainly in the manufacturing plant, quarry, and office.
  • Normal work hours are Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Available for call-ins 24/7 to assist in diagnosing production/equipment upsets. Occasional evening or weekend work on special projects may be necessary
  • Overtime may be necessary
