Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the employee serves as the professional accountant for SEARPDC to include overseeing and monitoring employee payroll, maintaining a variety of financial transactions, preparing, and distributing financial statements, monitoring, and overseeing accounts receivables and payables, managing,and analyzing budgets, and preparing financial reports for programs and contracts, as required. The employee also provides assistance with the external audit. The employee performs financial management and various accounting functions and procedures in conjunction with the CFO. The employee prepares journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly general ledger close. Employee contributes to reports, maintains accurate records, processes accounts, establishes value of assets, and ensures established processes and procedures are followed. The Senior Accountant assembles and analyzes data for compilation of reports. The employee ensures compliance with State and federal laws and regulations; ensures integrity of financial data. This is a responsible job with good judgement and knowledgeable approaches being essential. This job is considered security-sensitive and is subject to a pre-employment background check.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Possess a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university and/or combination of relevant experience and education.
2. Minimum five (5) years of experience in financial administration to include payroll, purchasing, bookkeeping, and preparation of financial statements/reports.
3. Obtain and possess a Certified Governmental Financial Manager (CGFM) designation.
4. Obtain and maintain Certified Governmental Accounting Technician (CGAT) designation.
5. Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred.
6. Experience in Governmental Accounting is highly preferred.
7. Possess a current and valid driver's license; must be insurable.
8. Ability to be bonded.
9. Ability to drive to participate in training and continuing education.
10. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
