    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position oversees, directs, and participates in major activities and programs of the department, including the maintenance and operations of various District infrastructure, systems, and facilities, and is responsible for providing professional-level support to the Director of Facilities. Assists in short- and long-term planning, development, and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and services. Successful performance of the work requires an extensive professional background, as well as, skill in coordinating departmental work with that of other District departments. Responsibilities include performing and directing many of the department’s day-to-day operational functions in a variety of areas.
    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Direct, manage and supervise the work performed by contractors and members of the maintenance team in diagnostics, installation, and repairs.
    • Responsible for the management and procurement of the installation, maintenance and repair services of all AV, BS, electrical, HVAC, life safety, low-voltage, UPS and utility systems.
    • Manage building automation systems (BAS) infrastructure district-wide, including the diagnostics, maintenance and repair of BAS infrastructure and peripherals.
    • Lead the operation and maintenance of all central utility plants including boilers, cabling, chillers, domestic water, electrical distribution, fire suppression, piping, and swimming pools.
    • Coordinate engineering of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as
      low-voltage infrastructure serving audio-visual, communications, life safety and security
      infrastructure.
    • Provide project development and project management for projects as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
    • Build and maintain communication and coordination channels between the various technical groups representing infrastructure district-wide (AV, HVAC, network systems, etc.)
    • Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance to emergency power generators to ensure reliable operation of critical systems during utility outages.
    • Establish and maintain a predictive/preventative maintenance program(s).
    • Assists in establishing Long Term Facility Maintenance plans, including general scope and budgets.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
    Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a facilities-related engineering or technology field, facilities management, project management, business management, or a related field and a minimum 5-years job related experience in a complex multi-facility educational/institutional setting.
    • Minimum 3-years of successful project management experience managing capital projects from concept to completion including design development, specification development, budget development and management, bidding, punch list and project commissioning.
    • Minimum 3-years experience designing and repairing technology systems including audio-visual (AV), building automation systems (BAS), data networks, electrical distribution, emergency power generation, lighting, public address (PA), and uninterruptible power systems (UPS).
    • Minimum 3-years experience operating, maintaining, and repairing central plant equipment including boilers, chillers, electrical distribution, and HVAC systems.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to communicate effectively with a wide variety of groups and individuals including teachers, principals, administrative staff, contractors, vendors, employees, enforcement agencies and municipalities.
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines on various diverse projects.
    • Strong research and information gathering techniques.
    • Ability to provide results in an understandable and cohesive manner.
    • Proficient in utilizing diagnostic tools such as multimeters and cable testers.
    • Demonstratesanappreciationofdiversityinallinteractionsandjobfunctions.
    • Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills,
      and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to graduation from a regionally accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in construction management, facilities planning, business or public administration, or a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative experience in construction management, facilities planning and management, or a related field.
    Desired:
    • Attainment or pursuant of an advanced related management or technical degree (MBA, MEng, MIS, ect...).
    • Experience working in a school district or other public entity.
