Under general direction of the Parks Operation Manager, the Parks Operations Supervisor supervises, oversees, and participates in the daily operations and maintenance of assigned park district, assigned staff, and provides assistance in developing and scheduling related park functions and activities.
- Plan organize, supervise, and participate in the work of assigned full-time and seasonal employees engaged in the daily activities of parks maintenance, repairs and construction; provide training for subordinates and review and evaluate work performance; effectively recommend hiring, discipline, transfer, and termination of subordinate employees.
- Organize, plan, and monitor projects; assure work is completed in an efficient, safe and timely manner and according to project work plan; develop and/or recommend contingency plan for work activities in crisis situations.
- Enforce policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with City and department standards and requirements; implement policies and procedures to assure effective and safe functioning of assigned activities; and assist with the revision of departmental policies, job descriptions and evaluations manuals as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of the divisional budget, identifying resource needs for parks maintenance and operations; responsible for purchases, collecting bids, and writing specifications for division equipment and vehicles; monitor expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; assure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities and time.
- Responsible for routine inspections and repairs of facilities, vehicles, equipment, playgrounds, and lighting within the park district and other areas of responsibility to assure health and safety are being met and to identify deficiencies and safety hazards; maintain records of the inspections and repairs.
- Maintain a record-keeping system that provides for the proper evaluation, control, and documentation of assigned operations by maintaining work orders and assignments in the City’s electronic work order and asset management systems.
- Assist in preparing facilities and provide support for various park and recreation programs and events.
- Respond to citizens in the resolution of concerns, inquiries, complaints, rule violations, and on-going programs.
- Serve as City liaison for Youth Soccer, Little League, Girl's Softball, and other facility user groups to coordinate activities as directed.
- Facilitate a harmonious, cooperative, safe and supportive work environment and resolve complaints and disputes in a fair and timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required:High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two (2) years college-level training or technical training certification in a field related to area of assignment, and five (5) years experience related to area of assignment including one (1) year supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Possess a Certified Playground Safety Certification (CPSI) or the ability to obtain within (12) month of employment.
Possess or the ability to obtain a Non-commercial Applicator License issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) or the Structural Pest Control Board within (12) months.
Valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
Excellent written and oral communication.
Knowledge and experience in general plumbing, irrigation, electrical repairs, welding, construction, turf management, and landscaping.
Available for on-call and emergency response.
Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Preferred: Special event logistics experience
Sport field turf maintenance experience
Forestry and horticulture experience.
