Responsibilities:

• Develop applications, testing and support production environment using mainframe technologies including but not limited: COBOL, MVS, JCL, VSAM, and CICS
• Participate in meetings and discussions with Functional/Technical Leads to understand the requirements and build out technical designs, programming logic, and workflows
• Participate in code reviews and ensure the code written complies with the company standards and policies
• Use industry-standard naming conventions, coding standards, problem-solving skills, and best practices in the SDLC
• Prepare Requirements and Design documents as needed
• Write unit tests (document and code) for the application packages
• Support proper unit testing of artifacts to ensure a smooth transition to System Testing and User Acceptance Testing
• Support Production Operations/Maintenance as necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field of study; previous work experience as a Mainframe Developer
• Should have prior experience in developing large-scale and complex applications in a mainframe environment
• Strong knowledge of all phases of application development – SDLC
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe application environment: COBOL, MVS, JCL, VSAM, and CICS
• Strong knowledge of utilities in mainframe environment: File-AID, File Manager, ChangeMan, SPUFI, TSO/ISPF, and Xpediter
• Knowledge of databases such as DB2, Oracle, and VSAM along with SQL and stored procedures 
• Experience in Agile development methodology
• Able to interact and coordinate with senior management and all non-technical/technical members of the organization
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills including verbal and written
