NORTHWEST ARKANSAS CHILDRENS SHELTER INC is Hiring a Transportation Aide Near Bentonville, AR

THE POSITION:

The Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter seeks a highly reliable individual to serve in the position of Transportation Aide. The Transportation Aide is responsible for transporting residents to their scheduled appointments, school, etc. This position completes all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. This position ensures all information is passed on to the Case Manager and/or Team Leader regarding the outcome of the appointment and follow up if needed. The Transportation Aide reports to the Operations Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Transports residents to/from community activities and appointments as assigned.
  • Have a good understanding of why residents are going on an appointment and of the instructions given by the provider so that all information can be communicated clearly to all involved parties.
  • Actively supervises and interacts with residents at all times.
  • Ensures while out with the residents all of their hygiene and nutritional needs are met.
  • Practices safety precautions and rules, models these to residents, and enforces rules consistently.
  • Monitors and documents resident behaviors and activities.
  • Interacts with residents in a positive, warm, nurturing manner.
  • Adheres to all shelter policies and procedures.
  • Must be flexible with schedule due to the fluctuation of appointments.
  • Completes all assigned tasks and works where assigned based on shelter needs.
  • Follows any additional verbal or written direction of Team Leaders and/or Case Managers.


Qualifications

  • Twenty-one years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prefer advanced degree or certification in human services field.
  • Prefer one year experience in human services or related field.
  • Physical ability to use authorized techniques for management of aggressive behaviors.
  • Must pass all criminal history and child maltreatment background checks.
  • Must submit to pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens when directed.
  • Valid driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record required to drive Shelter vehicle and/or for Shelter business.


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Basic proficiency in use of computers and software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and self-motivation.


Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands

  • Potential for unpredictable student behavior.
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Tasks may involve walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting for long periods of time.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule that will include appointments between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases/contagions.
