Position is Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with ability to work additional hours as needed.

Summary:

SUMMARY: Under the supervision and guidance of the Mortgage Loan Manager or the Loan Manager. The Mortgage Lender is responsible for the advising of an array of products for real estate loans for one to four family homes for customers. As the decision-making resource for the customer, the incumbent provides professional guidance to customers in their search for financing. Detailed knowledge of the many products offered is critical to allow proper evaluation of all loan prospects. The Mortgage Lender should maximize the generation of revenue utilizing all cross-selling opportunities. Finally, the incumbent must protect the bank’s loan assets by providing continual supervision for the loans under his/her accountability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

1. Identify the customer needs, analyze the loan request and financial data, and make decision for approval or denial of loan.

2. Approve, deny, or recommend loans within underwriting or point of sale commitment authority. If request exceeds authority, deny or recommend approval to appropriate committee or individual.

3. Recommend differing products based on customers needs and circumstances. Detailed knowledge of many products offered is critical to allow proper evaluation of all loan prospects. Know and follow the Arvest lending policy.

4. Build customer relationships by actively listening to customers to discover clues that might reveal referral opportunities.

5. Resolve all customer complaints personally or refer them to the proper area. Forward a copy of all written complaints to manager.

6. Communicate all-important information and all changes to Arvest Mortgage.

7. Prepare, present, or be a participant in seminars or information presentations for Realtors, builders, etc. Become active in area community programs.

8. Stay current on all changes within the financial products industry and maintain a thorough knowledge of bank operations, credit and lending policies and procedures, and accounting and finance.

9. Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Good background or understanding of all banking functions required.
  • Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or the ability to be registered within 30 days required.
  • 1 year previous mortgage/real estate experience preferred.
  • Associates degree in a related field preferred.

Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
