Position Summary

The Head Room Maintenance Technician will perform all duties needed to maintain sharp tooling for all A/W fabrication cells with a high level of detail to satisfy the customer. This position will have responsibility to maintain tool inventory, work with both internal and external suppliers, and promote lean manufacturing principles. The head room maintenance technician will obtain skills to be able to operate CNC controlled tool sharpening machines, continue education in order to meet job requirements, and utilize existing measuring tools to validate all tool specifications set by Andersen Corporation. This position might require flexible shifts to meet business needs, periodically assist operators with tooling needs, and technical milling assistance/set-ups

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates and maintains saw filing and precision grinding equipment.
  • Files, sets saws and sharpens heads, drill bits and router bits accurately to meet machine setup schedules.
  • Must have knowledge of production machines and their tooling requirements.
  • Knowledge of cutting characteristics and metal properties of milling heads, bits, and saws.
  • Understanding of inventory and controlled documentation.
  • Development in knowledge of insert tooling technology.
  • Participate in all required training. Provide a training plan to your supervisor each year for approval.
  • Collaborate with internal Technicians, Engineering, and Operations towards process improvements.
  • Be a key contact to support Operations. Shop disciplines include: grinding, insert technology, and saw applications.
  • Ensure workspace is clean, safe and organized.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years of lineal and cross milling experience
  • Good understanding of the equipment processes in milling operations
  • Personal computer skills helpful (Windows, CAD, basic Microsoft office skills)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to occasionally lift heavy items

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some tool sharpening experience is helpful.
  • Willing to work flexible hours shifts, and weekends when needed.
  • Good organizational skills, communication skills, self-directed and able to work in a team environment.
  • Blueprint reading skills.

SALARY INFORMATION

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. In addition to your pay, Andersen Corporation currently offers benefits such as comprehensive health benefits, 401k contribution, paid time off, 8 paid standard holidays, plus 2 floating holidays, a robust employee Wellbeing program, as well as profit sharing (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).

In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
