Talent Development Specialist

Purpose and Essential Duties

The Talent Development Specialist is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the analysis, development, execution, and evaluation of Bernhard’s succession program and employee professional development programs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Actively manages Bernhard’s succession planning program. This includes working with leadership to identify critical succession roles and potential successors, utilizing the succession and development platform to determine any development or skills gaps, create corresponding development plans for the successor candidates, and track progress on development.
  • Leads programs and Bernhard specific projects focused on the development of employees. Partner with leaders and HR Business Partners to ensure that program materials and resources are relevant and aligned with the organization’s objectives.
  • Performs training needs analyses to identify individual needs; gathers and analyzes relevant data for training purposes and aids in assessing program efficacy; generates regular reports concerning development initiatives and activities.
  • Provides guidance to managers on development strategies and resources that assist with their team’s development, growth, and upskilling.
  • Assist and facilitate the design, development, and delivery of in-person and virtual training programs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise as it pertains to excellence in training.
  • Assist with the design, implementation and maintenance of Learning Management System and run system reports to view and report on employees and/or teams’ training or development.
  • Contribute to L&D department events & activities.
  • Work effectively as a team member with business leaders.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Director of Learning and Development.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Training, Organizational Development or related field of study
  • 2-4 years of experience creating and managing succession, employee development, and career development programs
  • Capacity to analyze data related to talent development metrics, performance indicators, and workforce trends to inform decision-making and program improvement.
  • Solid understanding of organizational and career development principles and practices to facilitate the alignment of talent development initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Familiarity with succession management, learning management systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and other technologies used in training and development programs.
  • Experience developing and delivering training and presentations for various audiences
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to inspire and engage learners
  • Knowledge of methods of performance improvement
  • Training facilitation and logistics
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate group
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Knowledge of adult learning techniques, instructional design, facilitation and consultation
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to meet multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with UKG Learning is a plus.

Travel Requirements

  • This position may require periodic travel to the Company’s offices throughout the Southeast United States for purposes of strategizing, developing or delivering company training plans and programs.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
