General Summary: The Publicity Manager - Marketing is responsible for information and public relations on behalf of the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC). Publicity Manager is responsible for implementation of policies, procedures, strategies and techniques of community relations and internal and external communications. Related work as required.

Education Required: Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university.Preferred: Master's degree from an accredited college or university.Area of Study (major) Required: Mass communications, Marketing, Business administration (advertising) or any related field of study.Preferred: Any related curriculum. License(s) Required: Valid LA Drivers LicenseYears Relevant Work Experience: 3 years marketing experience; Web experience (editing). Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Preferred: 10 years related experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of currently accepted concepts and practices of public relations and marketingKnowledge of the communities served by BRECKnowledge of local working media representationKnowledge of current and accepted management concepts and practicesExcellent administrative and organizational skillsGood math skills and ability to perform basic accounting/budgeting functionsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsSkill in the using a computer, and standard office software which includes MS Office, databases and presentation programsAbility to quickly learn BREC policies, procedures, and department programsAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to maintain effective working relations with departmental staff, representatives of public and private interest groups, news media, the public and officials of other agencies
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Full time, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week; lunch break daily; overtime as required. Occasional weekend and evening work. Must be available in case of emergency, 24 hours/day, and 7 days/week.
