Job Title: Art Director

DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a dynamic creative professional to join our wonderful SASSO team as a graphic designer. If you so choose this new and exciting career journey, your position will be filled with brainstorming, design, concepting, strategy, big ideas, production and good ole fashioned meetings.

As a member of the Creative Team, you will be critically thinking, creatively solving problems, weaving brand stories, crafting attention-grabbing design, and taking consumers on a brand journey. You will be expected to work collaboratively in a team setting as well as individually to hit deadlines that produce work that is on-point and clearly communicates with our client’s goals and needs along with balancing our agency workflow. You will be engaged daily in collaborating with the creative team, creating concepts, and developing visual solutions for a variety of projects (including broadcast, print, web, social, video, radio, etc.). Thorough research will be required to understand each client’s industry, products/services, branding and marketing goals. The ability to think strategically and express those thoughts both written and verbally as well as being self-motivated is critical. Must be able to design in a variety of styles and quickly adapt those styles throughout the day.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a creative graphic designer (Agency experience preferred)
  • Ability to design while adhering to brand standards and collaborating with the agency creative team and client leaders
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Self-motivated and willing to expand knowledge
  • Ability to work in a creative group environment
  • Comfortable with short development cycles and flexible with shifting priorities
  • Capability to work on simultaneous projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Well-versed in building visual campaigns across multiple platforms and audience groups
  • Proven experience in print, social, ads, interactive, mobile, web
  • Illustration and drawing skills preferred
  • Proficient in Mac environment, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES (Main Responsibilities):

  • Can self-manage design multiple projects from concept to finish, ensuring successful project completion, proofing, fact-checking, and collaborating with team to meet deadlines and client goals
  • Designs original pieces, including branding elements, illustrations and infographics, etc. for a range of corporate marketing and communications materials
  • Research and concept by understanding the client's needs and target audiences, through online searches, reviews of existing research, interviews with subject matter experts, and in-person meetings
  • Select colors, images, text style, and layout for projects
  • Maintain brand consistency throughout client’s marketing and advertising projects
  • Review, proof, edit, revise, and seek feedback on design projects
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times
  • Comfortably vary style and other characteristics demanded by the industry, company, or target audience at hand
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication and client-related industry trends
  • Maintaining high standards and ensuring only the best work is released to the client while staying updated on appropriate style guidelines consistency in messaging
  • Stays aware of trends, continuing education opportunities and resources for the department, such as subscriptions, stock/fonts, etc.
  • Interpret creative briefs to develop and produce creative concepts through the execution on assigned brands
  • Present design concepts and final deliverables to internal team, and to client representatives as needed, and participate in client pitches on occasion
  • Proof, proof, and proof again for accuracy
  • Works closely with printers and production vendors to ensure quality
  • Attends press checks, video/photography shoots as needed
  • Working closely with the team to create accurate time estimates and breakdowns while delivering solutions within budget
  • Provide and maintain projects status
  • Assist in making presentations

  • Design clear and compelling creative solutions.
  • Stay involved over the course of the project to aid in adjusting the course as it evolves.
  • Step back from client scope, documents, and evaluate content and requests. Work with leadership to offer suggestions on how to better client requests/content by advising on structure, style and medium.
  • The role requires flexibility and the ability to navigate ambiguity and deadlines under pressure and conflicting requests.
  • Must have empathy and the ability to represent the client’s perspective.
