Job Description
- TITLE: Psychologist
- SUPERVISOR: Program Administrator Psychology Services
Clinical supervision will be provided by the assigned consulting psychologist.
- HOURS PER WEEK: 40
- QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Certification as School Psychologist
- FUNCTION: To provide psychological services to students in the
Residential, Educational and Community Based Clinical and Case Management Services.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and interpret intelligence, personality, and other specialized psychological tests/instruments.
- Complete psycho-educational evaluations and assist in the formulation/modification of individual education plans (IEPs) where necessary.
- Conduct clinical interviews, review case histories, and consult with treatment teams for all assigned cases.
- Analyze and interpret psychological data. Present information to parents/guardians and/or SAI treatment teams as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, treatment reviews, special treatment meetings, CSE meetings as appropriate.
- Assist in implementing effective intervention strategies to de-escalate behavior.
- Conduct in-service training regarding psychological testing and DSM-5 definitions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Education, Guidance Counselor, CSE Chairperson, and other clinical staff in the pre-placement/admission process of students.
- Consult with Clinical Services, Education, Residential and Day Services Departments regarding treatment and educational programming issues.
- Keep abreast of the current trends and developments in psychological testing, clinical methods and techniques and theoretical issues.
- Develop behavioral treatment plans based on individual functional behavioral analyses.
- Provide individual and/or group clinical services to assigned students/clients from any of the agency’s clinical programs, including but not limited to Prevention, Child & Family Treatment Supports and Services (CFTSS), Runaway Homeless Youth Services, Residential & Educational/Vocational Programs.
- Assist CSE Chairperson in scheduling and coordinating CSE meetings and coordinating special education services.
- Attend Initial 30-Day School Meetings and specialized education meetings when necessary.
- Assist with transition planning and assessments.
- Attend clinical training and other trainings as recommended/required.
- Attend Clinical supervision meetings and individual supervision meetings as required.
- Adhere to the American Psychological Association, the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics
- Assume other duties as requested/required.
