Job Description

  1. TITLE: Psychologist
  1. SUPERVISOR: Program Administrator Psychology Services

Clinical supervision will be provided by the assigned consulting psychologist.

  1. HOURS PER WEEK: 40
  1. QUALIFICATIONS:  New York State Certification as School Psychologist
  1. FUNCTION:  To provide psychological services to students in the 
     Residential, Educational and Community Based Clinical and Case Management Services.
  1. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administer and interpret intelligence, personality, and other specialized psychological tests/instruments.
  • Complete psycho-educational evaluations and assist in the formulation/modification of individual education plans (IEPs) where necessary.
  • Conduct clinical interviews, review case histories, and consult with treatment teams for all assigned cases.
  • Analyze and interpret psychological data. Present information to parents/guardians and/or SAI treatment teams as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, treatment reviews, special treatment meetings, CSE meetings as appropriate.
  • Assist in implementing effective intervention strategies to de-escalate behavior.
  • Conduct in-service training regarding psychological testing and DSM-5 definitions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Education, Guidance Counselor, CSE Chairperson, and other clinical staff in the pre-placement/admission process of students.
  • Consult with Clinical Services, Education, Residential and Day Services Departments regarding treatment and educational programming issues.
  • Keep abreast of the current trends and developments in psychological testing, clinical methods and techniques and theoretical issues.
  • Develop behavioral treatment plans based on individual functional behavioral analyses.
  • Provide individual and/or group clinical services to assigned students/clients from any of the agency’s clinical programs, including but not limited to Prevention, Child & Family Treatment Supports and Services (CFTSS), Runaway Homeless Youth Services, Residential & Educational/Vocational Programs.
  • Assist CSE Chairperson in scheduling and coordinating CSE meetings and coordinating special education services.
  • Attend Initial 30-Day School Meetings and specialized education meetings when necessary.
  • Assist with transition planning and assessments.
  • Attend clinical training and other trainings as recommended/required.
  • Attend Clinical supervision meetings and individual supervision meetings as required.
  • Adhere to the American Psychological Association, the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics
  • Assume other duties as requested/required.
