Alamance County Government is Hiring a Cyber Security Manager Near Alamance, NC

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of defending our county's networks, systems, and data against evolving cyber threats. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and strategic thinking to effectively safeguard County systems against cyber threats. Working in partnership with the Network Operations Manager to architect network security solutions and develop policies. The IT Cyber Security Manager will focus on enterprise firewalls, anti-malware and various security applications. This position will require an expert knowledge of wireless networking, virtual environments, server hardware, datacenter technology and Microsoft domain infrastructure.

Range posted is hiring range for position. Salary offered will be based on skill set and experience level. 
  • Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Monitors network proactively, follows established procedures when responding to network alarms and events. Continuously reviewing logs for signs of intrusion or malfunction. 
    • Builds site-to-site VPN access for internal remote communications and communications with approved outside agencies. 
    • Analyzes and implements security protocols, technologies and policies for data security. 
    • Partners to implement, maintain and optimize the internal network. 
    • Provides support to the Systems, Applications and Datacenter teams as necessary. Managing client-side security via anti-malware and local software firewall policy. 
    • Provides direct engagement for diagnosing network and service issues and triaging those through resolution. 
    • Serves in an assigned a on call rotation for 24/7 tier 2 network support (one out of every five weeks) and be available to participate when needed during county natural disasters or emergencies.

Education: BS in Computer Science or in a related IT discipline, or a relevant field required from an accredited college or university. Four or more years of relevant progressive technical experience preferably within the public sector. Three or more years of relevant leadership experience. Prefer CCNA (minimum) and CCNP certifications. Equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted.

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience), Prior experience with "next gen" layer 7 firewalls, knowledge and familiarity with virtual environments and data center technologies. Prior experience with routing, switching and wireless networking. 

License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver’s license
