SUMMARY
The staff person is responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive development/fundraising program in support of the Roman Catholic Franciscan Friars’ work in the Holy Land and in Washington, DC. The Franciscan Friars care for the Christian shrines in the Holy Land and for the people in the Holy Land through schools and social services for children, families, refugees, and others in need. The Franciscan Monastery in Washington, DC is home to a community of Friars who support both local and Holy Land programs. The Development Director is responsible for the annual giving, direct mail, events, grant writing, foundation and corporate relations, major gifts and planned giving programs that fund this work.
WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
The Development Director will work in person from the office at the Franciscan Monastery during core business hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EST. This position requires some evening and weekend work to meet with donors and attend events and work schedules can be flexible to accommodate this.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Director is responsible for the day-to-day operational management and implementation of all activities pertaining to fundraising. General areas of responsibilities include annual giving, direct mail, events, grant writing, foundation and corporate relations, major gifts, and planned giving. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and at least five years nonprofit fundraising experience.
Language Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of audiences. Ability to communicate with constituents on the telephone, in person and in writing.
COMPENSATION
Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience and skillset. Generous benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and 403(b) plan with matching contributions.
