C G Schmidt, Inc. is Hiring a Project Executive Near Madison, WI

The Project Executive reports to the Vice President. This individual is fully accountable for the safe completion of numerous projects and accounts that are completed on schedule, to CG Schmidt's quality standard, to the customer's satisfaction, and to maximize profitability. It is the Project Executive’s responsibility to initiate any action required to achieve the above objectives and ensure that all project activities are consistent with CG Schmidt's company policy. The Project Executive is fully responsible for larger projects or several smaller projects and the teams that staff them. This individual also considers the client relationship the cornerstone to success and works to protect and maintain a strong bond, while concentrating on gaining new business and developing new leads. This individual must promote and enforce the Company’s mission, policies and beliefs and set high standards in our organization.

Operations

  • Successful management of assigned projects which involve the following areas:
    • Construction management involving the areas of Pre-construction, Bidding and Buy-out, Schedule, Quality, Job Knowledge, Innovation and Safety
    • Financial Management involving the areas of Cost Control and Profitability, including Estimating, Value Engineering and Negotiations
    • Client Relations involving Relationship building and Leadership
    • Consistent closeout and final billing in a timely manner.
  • Responsibly commits the company’s financial assets to subcontracts and authorizes subcontractor payments.
  • Plans and continuously monitors multiple project profit and control, with ultimate profit and loss responsibility.
  • Provides over-sight accountability on multiple projects.
  • Consistently meets with the client and architect/engineer to probe for problems for early intervention and correction of issues.
  • Proactive identification of possible obstacles and potential delays and reacts with timely, effective solution(s).
  • Analyzes costs and scheduling to identify potential problems and initiates new alternatives that will result in correction.
  • Establishes and effectively utilizes personal network of associates to develop leads for potential CGS projects.
  • Promotes and enforces the Company's mission, policies, and beliefs.
  • Enhances and protects the client relationship through integrity, responsiveness, and client care.
  • Demands the highest level of safety compliance for all personnel at the site.
  • Demonstrates proven track record of accountability and increased responsibilities.
  • Actively seeks personal development opportunities for continuous improvement and promotes a continuous improvement environment for staff.
  • Effectively manages the development of all levels of staff through mentoring and coaching, training and development and leading by example.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Business Development

  • Represents CG Schmidt at a variety of functions (evenings and weekends) in order to assist Business Development efforts.
  • Regularly meets with present and former clients to position CG Schmidt for future opportunities.
  • Carefully monitors sales progress monthly. Realistically assesses each project in terms of the timing, strategy, and the probability of being awarded the project.
  • Effectively presents CG Schmidt’s suite of construction services while building relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Provides clear education of budgeting, constructability, feasibility, scheduling, etc. to client/potential client in an effort to add value to the construction process and showcase CG Schmidt’s value-adding capabilities.
  • Works closely with other Managing Directors to coordinate project leads, sales strategies, and marketing staff usage.
  • Works with Executive Vice-President and Senior VP in the preparation of owner contracts to ensure the company is maximizing profits while minimizing risk.
  • Is active in the community as necessary to develop relationships and project opportunities that result in new contracts.

Position Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related curriculum from an accredited university and 15 years construction leadership experience with impeccable client relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated record of successful performance of Senior Project Manager responsibilities.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of project management.
  • Continuous history of successful projects that met company goals for financial management, client relations and closeout, in addition to proven effective supervisory skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing leads for potential CGS projects.
