Position Purpose:
The District Sales Manager (DSM) role involves engaging fleets, end users, dealers, and OEM district offices to highlight Hendrickson product advantages. Collaborating closely with customers, the DSM works to ensure that they choose the appropriate Hendrickson product to improve their overall business operations and productivity.
Essential Functions:
·Cultivate relationships with fleet accounts and end users, educating them on the benefits of Hendrickson products.
·Address customer complaints regarding product performance, coordinating resolutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
·Conduct service training for fleet maintenance personnel, ensuring they are well-versed in Hendrickson product maintenance procedures.
·Identify suitable fleet applications for component testing.
·Liaising with Engineering for installations and providing regular performance reports.
·Liaise with Sales, Parts, and Service Managers at OEM dealerships to promote Hendrickson products and support their sales efforts.
·Provide product information, make presentations, and recommend appropriate suspension models for specific applications.
·Collaborate with OEM District Offices, recommending suspensions, introducing new products, and delivering product presentations to district personnel.
·Provide lift axle product information and support to distributors, assisting in product specification and installation.
·Coordinate with fleet contacts, making sales calls and providing relevant information to potential customers.
·Address distributor inquiries and issues regarding delivery, quality, and engineering.
·Monitor and report competitive activity in the marketplace, including competitor data, pricing trends, and product performance.
·Maintain accurate customer files and databases, ensuring all relevant information is up-to-date and accessible.
·Represent Hendrickson at industry trade shows and participate in state and local associations as assigned.
·Serve as an OEM Account Manager for selected truck and/or trailer accounts.
·Maintaining a deep understanding of Hendrickson's product offerings and the competitive marketplace.
·Facilitate service training for fleet maintenance personnel to ensure they are well-versed in Hendrickson product maintenance procedures.
·Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
·A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
·A minimum of 5 years’ experience in territory sales.
·Experience selling in the heavy-duty truck/trailer industry is strongly preferred. Candidates must have significant industrial sales/marketing experience if no truck/trailer industry experience.
Minimum Qualifications
·Must be a current resident or willing to relocate within the assigned territory.
·Willingness to travel frequently to attend meetings, events, and trade shows which may average three nights on the road per week.
·Must have experience in managing customer relationships and resolving customer complaints effective.
·A strong understanding of the commercial vehicle sector as well as knowledge of suspension products and components is desirable.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
·Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
·Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
