Still She Rises, Inc. (SSR) provides free legal representation to pregnant women, women with children, or women who are child caregivers and have been brought into the criminal, child welfare, and housing legal systems. Still She Rises seeks to employ highly motivated individuals with a commitment to indigent defense. Founded in North Tulsa, Still She Rises offers client-centered, innovative, and holistic legal representation to mothers. We honor the dignity of the women we serve by championing our clients’ individual goals while also targeting systemic issues impacting the community.
Responsibilities
Still She Rises seeks a Paralegal to join our team. The Paralegal is primarily responsible for ensuring our office runs smoothly by promptly processing requests and meeting litigation filing needs of the organization with expedience and thoroughness. This position is ideal for individuals with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Job responsibilities are likely to include, but are not limited to: maintaining case files and client records to ensure effective organization and awareness of case status at all times; communicating with clients about case developments; drafting emails and letters to opposing counsel and other third parties; drafting and formatting basic legal documents such as affidavits and proposed orders; mastering court policies and practices by communicating with court staff and reviewing applicable rules and statutes; preparing court filings by line editing and cite checking briefs, identifying and compiling exhibits, and reviewing submissions for accuracy and completeness; completing all court filings.
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once, prioritizing based on needs and feedback;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Excellent listener with high emotional intelligence;
  • Passion for social and racial justice and commitment to systemic reform.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience
  • 2-3 years of significant and substantive litigation experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a public defender’s office or law firm
  • Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal briefs (trial and appellate)
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software
Compensation: $50,000 annually medical, dental, vison, life, FSA, and 401K with 4% employer contribution
