Responsibilities:
- Lead the logistics and shipping groups; train, direct and coordinate team member activities
- Oversee the consolidation and coordination of all daily logistics activities to ensure the department is functioning properly
- Develop and maintain department metrics to analyze cost, timeliness, quality and accuracy targets
- Provide guidance to the department to ensure effective communication to all partners
- Coordinate with the finance department to ensure timely payments to freight carriers
- Negotiate discounts and maintain agreements with freight carriers Establish and cultivate cooperative working relationships with new and existing partners
- Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all freight carriers
- Investigate and resolve all partner freight claims or concerns
- Demonstrate the ability to handle high stress situations with all partners and maintain focus on overall satisfaction
- Identify and implement strategies to improve quality of service, productivity and profitability
- Understand Federal, State and DOT regulations that pertain to current shipping practices
- Bachelor degree required
- 3-5 years working experience as a logistics manager
- Proven financial acumen and negotiation skills
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, quality, and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt and prioritize changing assignments or multiple priorities and tasks
- Capable of managing the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and partner service or production issues
- Must possess positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions in stressful situations
- Have strong problem-solving and team work skills
- Flexibility and desire to take on additional responsibility
