Positive Recovery currently has 15 locations statewide and was recognized as one of the top places to work by the Houston Business Journal in 2021. We are presently seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Full-time Cook for our state licensed and Joint Commission certified Garden Oaks residential treatment center in Houston, TX.

Position Description:

The Part-time Sous Chef assists the Chef in preparing and serving nourishing meals to clients in our substance abuse treatment facility, while adhering to dietary needs to support overall recovery goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership in culinary production, operations and procurement
  • Develops team members through appropriate coaching, training and mentoring.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members in preparation and servicing of high-quality cost-effective meals.
  • Implements and monitors compliance to standards and policies through understanding of regulated agency standards.
  • Identifies and implements continuous quality improvement procedures and maintains appropriate sanitation and safety levels in all areas.
  • Maintains established budgetary guidelines for the food services department
  • Demonstrates proper knife handling skills with regard to food preparation.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Adheres to established state and regulatory guidelines.

· Provides high quality service to internal customers for employee events and meetings.

· Establishes and enforces nutrition and sanitation standards for the facility

· Supplies all purchasing, production and financial data to immediate supervisor and accounting within established timeframes.

· Hires, trains and develops assigned staff. Partners with Human Resources to maintain consistency as it relates to employee relations policy.

· Conducts annual performance evaluation for staff, including goal setting and counseling where appropriate.

· Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with staff to communicate issues regarding procedures, processes and overall effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree from an accredited school preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid Texas Food Manager’s permit from local health department.
  • Five years’ experience as a cook with three years supervisory responsibility.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· GED or HS equivalent

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
