The Northumberland National Bank is currently looking for a Head Teller for its Lori Lane office! NNB is looking for a candidate who displays good leadership skills and the ability to motivate others with a minimum of 2 years of banking experience with Head Teller experience preferred. Summary
Coordinate and supervise all aspects of teller operations within the branch ensuring the daily activities of the tellers are performed in a timely, accurate and courteous manner. Order and conduct cash management duties. Well versed in all branch operational procedures. Good leadership skills and the ability to motivate others are necessary. Actively participates in the branch incentive program by promoting and participating in a sales and service program consistent with the bank's initiatives. Provide working leadership and guidance to tellers through assignment of work and by providing technical guidance.
Typical Schedule
Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Flexibility is required to ensure adequate staffing.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Role is responsible for supervising 3 tellers on the teller line and drive-thru areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist the branch manager to assure proper scheduling and vacation time coverage as well as the proper utilization of part-time staff;
  • Assist branch manager with the yearly evaluations of branch tellers;
  • Train new tellers and existing tellers on new or updated policies and procedures;
  • Review, authorize, or reject the payment of large dollar checks and/or questionable items;
  • Assist the Branch Manager in daily review of Vault transactions and Balancing of the vault as well as periodic counts/verification of the vault cash. Assist in maintaining proper levels of Vault cash and teller drawer cash;
  • Assist the Branch Manager in performing "surprise" teller drawer counts on a random basis to ensure "prudent" teller drawer management;
  • Count the drawer of any teller experiencing an Overage or Shortage, if difference is greater than $100.00, work with the Branch Manager to research the difference and notify the Branch Administrator;
  • Daily ATM Duties including balancing and cash management as well as the training of other full time teller staff to assume ATM duties as needed;
  • Assist branch manager with monthly security reporting and branch audits;
  • Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposit;
  • Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete hold notices;
  • Process savings withdrawals. Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and ensure validity;
  • Explain, promote, or sell products or services using computerized information about customers to tailor recommendations;
  • Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies;
  • Appropriately issue, redeem and log monetary instruments;
  • Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded;
  • Follow bank policies and procedures for customer and account maintenance;
  • Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks;
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job;
  • Participate in and/or complete all necessary bank training;
  • Required to maintain the strictness of confidentiality in all matters;
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures;
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word)

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, and meeting quality standards for services;
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • 2 years of relevant banking experience.
