8 hours per day, 185 days plus 10 additional days per year

SUMMARY :
Westminster Public Schools (WPS) is the recipient of the Project AWARE grant (Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education). The goals of Project AWARE are to: (1) enhance school-based mental and behavioral health infrastructure, (2) increase mental health awareness for school-aged youth and those who interact with them, and (3) increase capacity for effective implementation of evidence-based mental health services, suicide prevention efforts that are trauma-informed and culturally responsive. The person selected for this position will collaborate with and report to the Director of Special Services to lead projects aligning with Project AWARE objectives, competency-based education, WPS mental health and counseling vision and mission, Personal Relational Competencies, and the Westminster Instructional Model. Key programmatic elements outlined by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and the federal Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) align with the WPS goal to prepare students for the day after graduation, emphasizing mental health, wellness, resilience, and personal relational competencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
*Valid special service provider (SSP) from the Colorado Department of Education with an endorsement as a School Counselor, School Psychologist, or School Social Worker
*Candidates with endorsements in CLDE, Bilingual Ed, Foreign Language, and/or sheltered content or other English Language instructional training desired
*Current knowledge base of research-based practices, ethical standards, and guidelines in the field of school-based mental health
*Knowledge, experience, and willingness to learn the principles of Competency-based Education, instructional coaching, and adult learning theory
*Professional experience in mental health or counseling in schools serving diverse populations
*Effectively demonstrates and models strong personal-relational competencies (PRC), including; problem-solving, communication, and teaming skills
*Astute critical thinking and problem-solving skills
*Calm and collected demeanor during crisis situations
*Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
*Promotes and follows all policies and procedures from the Board of Education, department, and building
*Comfortable with collecting and analyzing data for the purposes of informing best practices
*May require flexible scheduling on occasion in order to support infrequently-held evening and/or weekend events
*Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
*Collaborates with the Director of Special Services to lead, assess, analyze, and evaluate personal-relational programs to meet grant and departmental goals
*Facilitates professional learning and deliverable outcomes for individuals and teams on practices relating to competency-based systems at WPS, such as Personal-Relational Competencies (PRC), the Interventionist Framework, the Integrated Mental Health and Counseling topics
*Facilitates adult learning (staff development, team meetings, book studies, etc.)
*Serves in a leadership capacity alongside a highly-reliable and highly-functioning district-level team to support systemic PRC implementation, mental health infrastructure, trauma-responsive systems, school-wide PBIS initiatives, etc.
*Consults with building administration and educators on helping build a safe and collaborative climate aimed to help all students feel significant and respected, regardless of circumstance
*Provides support to staff using collaborative consultation, modeling, and coaching methods with various stakeholders including, but not limited to teaching staff, administration, parents, and community partners
*Teams with mental health and counseling professionals in the schools to support students within all tiers of intervention
*Attends district mental health, counseling, PRC, and Instructional Support Team meetings
*Assists in collecting and analyzing data with stakeholders in order to inform best practices
*Develops collaborative partnerships with public and private agencies
*Forms community partnerships and utilizes resources to support the needs of students and families as appropriate;
*Mentors new counseling and mental health staff as requested
*Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned by supervisor
