SEIU Virginia 512:
SEIU Virginia 512 is a dynamic labor union, representing Fairfax and Loudoun county
employees, and home care workers across Virginia. We are committed to winning living

Position Summary:
Organizer III’s assist in the execution of campaigns to grow the union, identify activists
and leaders, educate and empower union members to take action at work and in the
community, work with community partners, elect champions and hold elected officials
accountable; all in order to build power for union members and working families.
Organizer III’s will work with Fairfax County and Loudoun County employees, union
leaders and staff to win historic collective bargaining rights.
- Mobilizing workers to win collective bargaining rights and a union election.
- Assisting in the training and development of staff and member organizers.
- Leading staff by example, setting high standards in work ethic and professional
- Making short-term and long-term campaign plans, and carrying out
- Creating and articulating a positive vision for campaigns and for the union.
- Building strong one-one-one relationships with workers.
- Conducting individual and group meetings to advance organizing campaigns.
- Working with staff to identify, recruit, and develop leaders to win the campaign.
- Motivating individual workers and groups of workers to take action.
- Working to create real and positive ways to involve community allies in current
- Engaging workers in broader union efforts to change industry standards.
- Ensuring the tracking, reporting and analysis of campaign data;
- Coordinate with other local union staff to carry out the union’s organizing
Qualifications:

Successful candidates will bring the following skills and attributes to the position:
- 3 or more years experience in organizing and demonstrated commitment to
- Adept at leading and motivating workers in difficult struggles;
- Relevant knowledge, including labor regulations, issues, etc.;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to relate, establish and cultivate respectful relationships with people from
- Skilled at meeting deadlines in a fast-paced campaign environment;
- Strong oral, written and listening skills;
- Excellent analytical and judgment skills;
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills;
- Flexible and adept at dealing with changing priorities;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Working knowledge of computer programs including social media, Word, Excel,
- Kindness, empathy and concern for others.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record;
- Ability and willingness to work long, irregular hours, including evenings and
- Ability and willingness to travel within Virginia;
- Relocation to the Northern Virginia area is required if offered a position.
Term of Employment: This a temporary, full-time, grant-funded position that runs for
6 months from the date of hire. This is a bargaining unit position.
Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary is $73,542.00 annually, with annual cost-of-living-adjustments and merit
raises. Benefits package includes: defined-benefit pension, fully-paid health insurance,
generous paid leave, etc. In addition, an auto allowance of over $450/month will be
provided. Position is an overtime exempt salaried position.
