Scales and Shells is a contemporary seafood restaurant located in the heart of Newport, RI. We are currently preparing to open in May of this year with expanded hours of operation. We are looking for all front of house positions. Job requirements are listed for each position below. Looking for candidates who want to work in a team environment.

Server:

● Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in a clean uniform.

● Prepare station for service prior to guest arrival, including the supplying of side stands,

setting of and inspection of all tables for cleanliness, and correctness of settings.

● Must maintain a passing score on written and verbal food and beverage tests.

● Serve food and beverage items according to prescribed procedures.

● Monitor diners and guest satisfaction frequently and anticipate needs without requiring direction.

● Reset tables as needed.

● Complete opening, running, and closing side work as detailed by procedures.

● Properly obtain completed guest checks bearing all required information.

● Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvements.

● In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.

Hosts:

● A host for our restaurant needs to be friendly, accommodating and quick on their feet.

● Experience with Open Table is preferred but we are willing to train the right person.

● Greet Guests upon arrival

● Escort guests to table

● Prepare dining areas before guests are seated

● Place tableware and condiments on tables

● Remove dirty utensils and replenish, as needed

● Clean and reset tables after guests leave

● Answer phone calls to help with any customer questions or concern

● Take reservations and to-go orders

● In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.

Busser:

● Clearing and setting tables in a timely and efficiently.

● Performing station opening/closing setup for each shift.

● Restocking glassware, ice, and beverage items.

● Polishing, rolling, and prepping silverware

● Making sure chairs, floors and Guest dining areas are clean.

● Helping service and bar staff as needed

● Running food to tables

● In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $3.89 - $16.00 per hour
