Polk County Clerk of Courts is Hiring a Support Specialist/Mail Courier - Support Services Near Bartow, FL

Essential Attributes:
  • The Mission of the Clerk of Courts has a high degree of public accountability, regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
  • Support and comply with the Mission Statement and Code of Conduct of the Clerk of Courts.
  • Maintain a high standard relating to professional conduct and behavior.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees of the work unit and embrace a teamwork approach to completing tasks.
Essential Tasks:
  • Pick up and deliver mail from the Post Office to the mailroom accurately and timely.
  • Required to run mail route Branch, City, and County routes in a timely and efficient manner, which require driving the County vehicles.
  • Distribute mail to appropriate departments/agencies accurately and timely.
  • Pick up mail from Court Processing (PCSO) daily in the afternoon.
  • File court files for Support Services according to alphabetical sequence, court date and numerical sequence by year.
  • Deliver files to various departments/agencies from various locations (Branches/Off-Site) accurately and timely.
  • Retrieve and Deliver files to/from off-site. File files in correct locations at off-site(s) and maintain areas.
  • Search for files, film, books (keep files current, and locate missing files).
  • Deliver office supplies to the Clerk Branch Offices, which require driving the County vehicles.
  • Assist in destruction and recycle as needed.
  • Perform general office duties and any other duties as assigned.
  • Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Ability to acquire or have knowledge of current procedures within the various areas of responsibilities overall operations and workflow.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, instructions, and/or requests.
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules, operating equipment, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, read and speak English effectively to customers and employees.
  • Ability to read and write routine correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage work to meet necessary time requirements, performance measures, and workload.
  • Ability to apply job-related Florida statutes, and Clerks policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail, and ability to cover the work of others to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with other employees of the work unit, judiciary and other agencies that work with our agency.
  • Ability to remain flexible as conditions and procedures change and continue effective performance in the face of additional challenges.
  • Ability to operate a PC and/or mainframe and related software applications and accurately type 25 wpm.
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Six months related job experience and/or training.????
