SUMMARY:

MCAD is seeking an Annual Fund Officer who focuses on the development and implementation of an annual fundraising plan. This role is charged with meeting metric-driven annual goals for fundraising and alumni engagement. Primary responsibilities include: designing and implementing strategies to strengthen and build the Annual Fund, and working collaboratively with Career Development, faculty, and cross-college departments to ensure that alumni are engaged and an integral part of the MCAD community. The Officer must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and the overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.

DETAILS: This is a full-time, exempt position expected to work 35 hours a week. This position reports to the Vice President, Institutional Advancement, and is paid $60,000 - $70,000 annually.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, working closely with staff, colleagues, the President, and members of the Board of Trustees.
• Manage a portfolio of at least 50 prospects through the donor pipeline; using fundraising best practices for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Regularly track donor engagements in Institutional Advancement’s constituent relationship management platform.
• Develop dashboards and regularly analyze data to influence strategies for fundraising and alumni engagement.
• Develop productive relationships with the community, including donors, and prospective donors.
• Identify opportunities and needs to increase existing and establish new support from corporations, foundations, and grants, leveraging internal resources.
• Support the Vice President of Institutional Advancement to provide donors with the highest level of stewardship, responsible reporting, and ongoing cultivation.
• Lead the College’s alumni engagement efforts; engage alumni, and increase their connection to each other and the College by organizing, managing, and directing alumni programming, activities, communications, and special projects.
• Engage alumni in the College’s annual events, in partnership with marketing, and events partners.
• Serve as MCAD liaison to fundraising committees.
• Ability to travel to visit donors, locally, and nationally.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Represents MCAD’s vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree with preference for nonprofit and/or fundraising focus, or related area of study required; advanced degree, preferred.
• At least five years of experience in development and/or alumni relations.
• Evidence of successful fundraising in the arts and/or higher education is strongly preferred, including experience with a major capital campaign and direct solicitations.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead and succeed in a collaborative environment.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
• Must possess a high level of analytical thinking and strategic planning, independent judgment, and initiative.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, required.
• Strong problem solving skills and technical aptitude.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication and collaborate across departments.

ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. BACKGROUND: Founded in 1886, Minneapolis College of Art and Design is located in the rich creative community of the Twin Cities. Recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative approaches to art and design education, MCAD is home to approximately 800 students from 45 states and 15 countries. The college offers bachelor’s degrees in fourteen disciplines including arts entrepreneurship, design, fine arts, and media arts; one MFA; three online master’s degrees; and continuing education classes for all ages.
