Jefferson County, WA is Hiring a Bookkeeper II or III - Hadlock Shop Near Port Townsend, WA

Port Townsend, WA

The Public Works Department is seeking a full time Bookkeeper II or III to perform administrative, bookkeeping and purchasing activities for the Road Maintenance and Accounting Divisions. Among other duties, the position is responsible for entering and auditing payroll, equipment, and material usage; accounts receivable and payable; reconciling vendor accounts; creating spreadsheets and cost analysis; and providing administrative support. The position is split between the Hadlock Road Maintenance Shop and the Public Works Office. This position requires a person who is self-motivated, has excellent communication and data processing skills, a high attention to detail, and enjoys working with a team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bookkeeper II: Associates Degree (AA) in accounting, two years as a Bookkeeper I, and two years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, High school diploma or GED and two years as a Bookkeeper I, and four years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, High school diploma or GED and six years governmental bookkeeping experience; OR, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bookkeeper III: Associates Degree (AA) in accounting, two years as a Bookkeeper II, and four years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, High school diploma or GED and two years as a Bookkeeper II, and six years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, two years as a Bookkeeper I, two years as a Bookkeeper II and four years governmental bookkeeping experience; OR, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hours & Compensation

Bookkeeper II: This is a full time, 40 hours per week, union position Grade A3-F. Typical work week Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Pay range is $26.99 - $32.25 per hour, starting pay typically $26.99 per hour, DOE. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Accrued PTO (paid time off), 12 paid holidays, and bereavement leave.

Bookkeeper III: This is a full time, 40 hours per week, union position Grade A3-G. Typical work week Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Pay range is $30.49 - $36.44 per hour, starting pay typically $30.49 per hour, DOE. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Accrued PTO (paid time off), 12 paid holidays, and bereavement leave.
