Cost Specialist Job Description

The CostSpecialist works closely with the proposal teams in developing cost proposals andbudgeting for new business efforts in compliance with solicitation requirements. The Cost Specialist works under the general supervision of the Sr Advisor, Cost and Pricing.

• Assist in pricing, budgeting, and preparation of cost proposals for select capture and proposal efforts. 

• Prepare supporting documentation for proposal submissions, including budget narratives and financial information.

• In collaboration with the Sr Advisor, design budget and cost proposal templates for different types of cost proposals.

• Provides support to proposal teams and leadership to assist in the development of winning proposals.

• Helps analyze financial impact of proposed terms and conditions.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, international affairs, finance, accounting, economics, or related with 2-3 years of experience required. Master’s degree preferred

• 2-3 years of professional experience in cost proposal developmentrequired.

• Experience working in an international development consulting firm that serves the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and other similar donors preferred.

• Familiarity with USAID regulations and policies (including AIDAR and FAR regulations).

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team in a culturally diverse environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure on multiple concurrent projects.

• High level proficiency in MS Office Applications, experience using Adobe and other graphic design programs.
