Hilton Austin Airport is Hiring an ASSISTANT CONTROLLER Near Austin, TX

Description

We are looking for a team player, accounting background and or hotel experience a plus. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the controller. This candidate will be detail oriented, positive team player, ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Join our Hilton family! The Assistant will be responsible for:

Essential Responsibilities:

1. To Controller: Assistant Controllers report directly to the Controller to ensure that corporate policies and procedures are compiled on a consistent basis.

2. To Hotel Management Team: Controllership is a support function and the Assistant Controller is expected to be responsive to the Controller, GM and other hotel managers. Assistant Controllers are expected to provide the Controller with the necessary financial advice and counsel so that the Controller's responsibility for achieving bottom-line objectives can be met.

3. To protect the assets of the hotel.

4. To provide the Controller with timely and accurate data on which to make management decisions.

5. To provide an accurate, timely and meaningful financial statement to owners and management.

6. To ensure proper controls are in place and monitor such controls.

7. To provide analysis and support to all hotel management staff as directed by the Controller.

8. The various areas under the responsibility of the Controller are operating effectively and efficiently.

9. The needed controls are in place to maximize profits or minimize losses by retaining revenues, reducing expenses and safeguarding hotel assets.

10. Corporate policies and procedures are in place and operating effectively.

11. Deviations of hotel policies and procedures which come to attention are reported to the Controller.

12. Non-compliance with legal requirements and contractual obligations (including obligations under a management agreement) to the extent such non-compliance has come to attention, is reported to the Controller.

13. Ensures that all appropriate taxes are filed in a timely manner and in accordance with local/state guidelines.

14. Annual internal/external audits are coordinated by the Assistant Controller and the full involvement of Department Heads is obtained.

15. Works with the Sales/Revenue team and Department Heads to update 

forecasts and future projections in accordance with ownership and/or 

management agreements.

16. The financial impact of all business decisions is properly addressed 

wherever applicable.

17. The Assistant Controller takes an active role in Month End reporting for the property. The Assistant Controller directs this process in conjunction with the Controller.

18. Assists Payroll, Credit and Accounts Payable functions when needed to include processing weekly payroll and vendor check runs.

19. Facilitate General Casher function and ensure timely cash deposits are presented to Armored car service on pick up dates.

20. Prepare daily revenue, cash over/short and payroll reports and distribute to ownership, Prospera Hospitality and hotel managers on a timely basis. 

19. Participates in the following:

a. monthly department meetings with the Accounting Department.

b. weekly staff meetings

20. Participates in interviewing and hiring new personnel when needed.

21. Participates in month end food and beverage inventories and quarterly china, glass silver and linen inventories.

22. Evaluates Accounting hourly staff performance on a ninety (90) day and annual basis.

23. Provide disciplinary action when, and if, necessary.

24. Keeps "open communication" between subordinates, peers and associates.

25. Conducts self to reflect the high standards of professionalism within the organization.

26. Learns, understands and refers to the Standard Operating Procedures.

27. Reports accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor.

28. Reports substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisors.

29. Utilizes protective equipment.

30. Knows department fire prevention and emergency procedures.

31. Follows safety and security procedures and rules.

32. Adheres to all policies and procedures.

33. Attends company orientation.

34. Responsible for developing performance standards, procedures and rules used to ensure safe work habits and a safe work environment.

35. Conducts regularly scheduled training sessions on proper and safe work habits.

36. Review loss control goals and discuss at department meetings.

37. Conducts monthly formal inspections in your department to identify hazards. Follows up with corrective actions.

38. Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.

39. Additional duties which you may be asked to perform.

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

1. Assists ownership, Prospera Hospitality and other department managers as needed.

2. Participates in the property's CARE Committee.

Physical Demands:

Lift and carry ten (10) pounds maximum, with frequent walking, talking, standing, sitting, hearing, feeling, smiling, bending, reaching, twisting.
