Small but growing wholesale bakery specializing in French-based pies, cakes and quiches needs a Café Manager to open and manage our new retail cafe business. The café will be a grab and go concept serving locally roasted coffee, our core baked goods and other items including sandwiches, chips, drinks, and merchandise. A professional individual with 3-5 years of experience in managing a café or retail food establishment is required. The café will be open for breakfast and lunch only, 7 days a week.
Essential duties and responsibilities of the Café Manager include but are not limited to:
-To manage all café daily operations.
-To recruit, hire, train and supervise café staff.
-Manage all staff schedules and ensure all NYS and Federal employment laws are being adhered to.
-Source all ingredients, inventory, and merchandise for sale from vendors.
-Manage stock of condiments and merchandise for sale and use on shelving, coolers, and freezers.
-Receive supplies & ingredients and verify the correct items and quantities are delivered and delivered in acceptable condition.
-To prepare, or manage the preparation, of all products for sale. This includes the development and creation of menu items (i.e. sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.) with current popular market food trends.
-Manage café budget and all operating costs.
-Handling of any cash, deposits and end of day operations with POS devices and equipment.
-Manage Customer feedback and service for all recommendations and complaints.
-Develop marketing plans to promote the café and sales.
-Manage and monitor social media and advertising.
-Maintain and repair all equipment as needed with vendors.
-Maintain sanitary conditions and cleanliness of facility, including storage, at all times.
-Adhere to FDA and/or NYS Dept. of Agriculture requirements and inspections.
-Assist with any other projects and needs of the business as requested.
Experience and Skillsets:
-3-5 years of managing a café or small eating establishment.
-Knowledge of FDA and NYS Dept. of Agriculture food safety requirements and regulations.
-Must exhibit knowledge of email and computing skills adequate for business operations.
-Effective communication skills.
-Willingness to learn.
Benefits:
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year based on experience and skillsets.
-PTO to include paid holidays, vacation, personal and sick days (where applicable).
-Simple IRA matched by Company (up to 2% of earnings).
-Health insurance is not currently available.
