Purpose of the Patient Care Finance Representative:

At College Park PT we love what we do and are passionate about helping others get better. As physical therapists, we are the "movement experts"! We merge training and science, with a love of meeting each patient where they are, working with them to create a plan, and helping them improve. Being a part of the care team, the Patient Care Finance Representative (PCFR) plays a vital role in working with the physical therapy team. Once the patient's finances are understood and agreed upon, the patient can fully focus on healing and getting back to their best self. A PCFR is highly skilled at knowing how to manage patients and constantly works to produce highly satisfied, financially qualified, patients that pay their balances in full and on time. PCFRs are experts in generating revenue by establishing and managing the patient's expectations, with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle any question or objection.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Customer service with a patient first focus- you will interact and build relationships with patients to provide an exceptional patient care journey.
  • Engage with patients for all pre-arrival finance calls.
  • Obtain insurance verifications, authorizations, and monitor visit tracking, as well as plans of care.
  • Liaison between patients and management, regarding billing and collections.
  • Liaison between management and Director of Billing, regarding patient balances, and other revenue related areas.
  • Responsible for auditing accounts for disputed charges or refunds owed and submitting those requests for approval.
  • Respond to and follow-up with any patient balance questions.
  • Responsible for auditing and preparing the accounts to send to collections.
  • Responsible for auditing the statement spreadsheet prior to statements being sent out.
  • Responsible for any finance related intake, data entry, medical records, scanning documents and paperwork.
  • Effectively communicates and builds relationships with our staff, insurance providers, medical professionals, and the community, to provide exceptional experiences.
  • Handles objections and follows up on information or payments promised.
  • Audits daily co-pays and other payments collected at the time of service.
  • Must understand accounts receivable, patient responsibility, and explanation of benefits for various insurance payers.
  • Successful generation of patient revenue by establishing relationships that result payment arrangements, collecting account balances, and pursuing delinquent accounts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities of a Patient Care Finance Representative:

  • Understands the value of properly monitoring and coordinating each patient's account to ensure the charges and collections are correct and timely.
  • Highly developed skills in effectively communicating with a diverse range of people.
  • Takes full responsiblity for their patients, their position, and their production.
  • Uses commonsense approach to confront and solve problems with positive solutions and optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to explain account status and patient responsibility clearly to patients.
  • Ability to act with integrity regarding all matters, while maintaining control and composure, regardless of the circumstances.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written- phone, written, email or Zoom.
  • Ability to be empathetic while remaining professional.

Must Haves:

  • Integrity, consistent and uncompromising adherence to stong moral and ethical principles and values.
  • Leadership abilities to establish and manage patient expectations.
  • Strongly developed organizational skills and an ardent desire to get work done.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, insurance guidelines.
  • Flexibility, time-management skills, and the ability to adapt, so you can find and implement positive solutions.
  • Ability to always bring a "Whatever it takes" "We can do this" attitude of servant leadership to work.
  • Ability to follow multi-step directions and minimal supervision.
  • Self motivated, keen attention to detail, and capacity to work, and succeed, under pressure.
