Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours, LLC is Hiring a Tour Guide Near San Diego, CA

Greetings, wandering souls,

We are looking for actors and thespians to educate and entertain parties ranging from 4 to 25 or more people on a ghost tour! It is an intimate audience and experience. You are the headliner, a one-person show. Our production is very theatrical and animated with many opportunities for vocal inflections and spontaneous ad-lib moments. If you are a performer, you are going to find this to be intoxicating.

The Haunted Tours
These are our available tours:

Haunted Bus tour out of Old Town.
Haunted Gaslamp walking tour downtown
Haunted Walking Tour in Old Town with paranormal investigation.
Paranormal investigation experience.

We are hiring now and would like to have you online doing tours in 2 months. Full disclosure - in the unlikely case if Covid comes back, the recession hits hard, we get invaded, AI kills everyone, etc.., that could prevent us from touring.

I can tell you more about the tours in a call and you can pick the one you would prefer. Once trained you will also have access to the other tours if you wish.

Hours
We operate in the evening hours (usually around 7, though we may add a 5pm over the summer), and our shows are generally 2 hours long. You'll want to show up early to prepare for the audience so an event will be around 2.5 hours. We have shows almost every night, in summer. The position is a very part-time, and you can expect to perform between 2 - 6 shows a week give or take. It is not meant to replace your day job but would instead get you some sound supplemental income, fun and performing experience.

You may be called on to do ocassional day tours or private groups.

Our schedule is very flexible and we will work around your times. Generally the more available you are Thursday - Sunday the more action you'll get. I can go over all this on a call. Know that our scheduling style our employees love.

Pay
For the first years, the pay is $45 per tour plus tips to start, the average total tips being $40 per tour. The lowest we have on record is 4 cents and the highest at $295. How much tips you get is a bit of the luck of the draw (how many people are on your tour and how tippy they are) and the power of your performance. A tour is generally 2.5 hours which breaks down to roughly $18 per hour. Combined with the tips I like to think you'll make $90 per tour. More as you gain experience.

The Performance
This is an opportunity to learn and perform between a hour and a half to two-hour script, which means you will be talking 95% of the time and interacting all the time. You'll find the script is a combination of historical facts, improv, and jokes. Once you have the script down, you'll be able to bring your style and flare to it. There is some prop use in the scripts at certain events, nothing too complicated. Clients will have access to you during your shows and be able to ask you questions, so you will want to be friendly and open to those interactions.

Though the script is the anchor of our performances know that each group and each show has its own flavor and feeling. No two are the same.

Misc
We are located in San Diego and operate out of Old Town and the Gaslamp and you'll get a mixture of tourist (mostly American) as well as locals. You can expect to get tips and of course the better their experience, the higher your tips usually go. We do not have an office you can visit.

Please only apply if you are interested in performing throughout the year. It'll take some effort for us to train you and for you to learn the script (great acting practice) but once we have it you'll be addicted, and with this, in mind, you'll want to be able to commit to the tour for some time in the future. Please only apply if you plan to be in SD for at least two years.

The training process takes effort, and on average it takes someone about two months to have memorized the 40 page script and gone through the whole process of getting their own shows. Once you make it through, all the host will tell you this is an amazing job, and you make more money in your 2 hours than 90% of other jobs plus you have a fantastic time. Once you get past the training, it is absolutely wonderful.

Do not apply unless you can memorize a massive script.
Do not apply if you do not have acting or hosting experience.
You might not want to apply if you do not live within 20 minutes driving time from downtown SD or Old Town.

We love our employees and are very flexible. As long as you are available at night, we will work around your schedule and fit you in where you are able to fit. This is the perfect opportunity for an actor or talented extrovert to have an additional source of income and fun.

Apply If You Dare: This opportunity is perfect for actors or talented extroverts looking for an additional source of income and fun. If you feel a spectral connection to this role, include your phone number, the best times to reach you, and an outline of your acting or hosting experience. Apply soon, we've been dying to meet you.

Remember, we're not just looking for a guide, we're looking for a showstopper, a master of the macabre, a veritable virtuoso of the veil between worlds. If that sounds like you, then take a deep breath, step into the shadows, and join us at Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours.

Spine-chillingly yours, Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours.
