Job Title: Heavy Cleaner/Groundskeeper
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Director of Support Services
Reports To: Director of Support Services
Status: Per-Diem/Part-Time/Full-Time (Non-Exempt, Bargaining)
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for cleanliness of assigned areas, care of assigned tools, equipment and materials; economical use of all soaps, disinfectant solutions, waxes and other janitorial supplies. Assists in maintaining hospital property grounds in an attractive, orderly and healthy state.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tends to and cares for all center grass areas (ie, mow, water, use weed killer, etc.) as needed.
- Collect and dispose of trash and biohazardous material.
- Cleans, dusts and vacuums all air vents in the hospital.
- Buffs and polishes floors as needed.
- Cleans and scrubs bathroom walls, floors, ceilings and fixtures, arounds sinks, urinals and toilet bowls.
- Trims plants, hedges and trees as needed.
- Keeps grass area surrounding hospital identification signs cut and in neat appearance (50' circumference).
- Washes walls, screens, windows, tops of windows, door frames and other high areas.
- Collects soiled linen and transports them to the soiled laundry area and issues clean linens to the floors where linen closets are located.
- Maintains and secures all equipment assigned to perform duties.
Skills/Requirements:
- Knowledge/experience in maintaining grass, plants, shrub planting and maintenance preferred.
- Must be able to pull up to 60 lbs., lift up to 70 lbs., carry up to 60 lbs. and push up to 100 lbs.
- Knowledge/experience in operating landscaping tools (ie. weed whacker, lawn mower, hedge trimmers, etc.)
- Licensed to use insecticide and herbicides preferred.
Position Demands:
- Must be able to understand and follow instructions
- Continuous standing and walking, with eye-hand-foot coordination.
- Frequent sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling with some climbing and balancing.
- Continuous vision use (corrected vision, wide field of vision and color vision).
