Dallastown Area School District is Hiring a Behavior Intervention Teacher (Grades 4-6) Near York, PA

Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, the Dallastown Area School District seeks a Behavior Intervention Teacher (Grades 4-6) for our Intermediate School who will emulate our dedication to excellence and vision of inspiring and creating pathways for student success.Job SummaryYou'll employ the District’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives, and performance expectations, to guide and inspire students to gain knowledge and life skills to become productive citizens.
This would be accomplished through your related experience in learning and emotional support, instructional adaptation, effective interaction patterns, FBA/PBSP development and implementation, assisting at-risk children, and collaborating with regular classroom teachers in meeting goals set by the IEP Team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Dual PA Certifications:
    • Special Education: PK-8 (9226) or PK-12 (9231) and
    • Regular Education:
      • Elementary Education K-6 (2810) or
      • Grades PK-4 (2825) with Grades 5-6 Instructional Add-On or
      • Grades 4-8 (3100-01, -05, -08, -09)
  • Related teaching experience preferred, as mentioned above
  • Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting
  • Experience with technology in facilitating instruction
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Acceptable record of attendance.
  • Completion and submission of all mandated pre-employment documents and information.
  • Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable consistent with applicable Pennsylvania law, regulations and requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established District curriculum goals and establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Actively participates in building or district educational experiences such as science fairs, mathematics competitions, programs associated with the arts and other student activities.
  • Strives by instruction and action to employ the District’s philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives, and performance expectations.
  • Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely fashion. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provides progress reports as required, and communicates with parents as deemed necessary or when directed by the principal.
  • Implements student IEP’s and student service plans.
  • Provides, when appropriate, information and recommendations (verbal and written) when requested for student placement, course selection, awards, scholarships and in pursuit of other academic endeavors such as college or other educational experiences, extra-curricular endeavors or employment.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by the District Policy, Administrative Policy, and Pennsylvania law.
  • Develops a code of conduct for the classroom which is consistent with established Administrative Policies and develops rules of classroom behavior which are enforced in a fair and just manner.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including current technology and whole-group/small-group learning.
  • Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Seeks the support of district specialists when concern regarding student progress arises.
  • Provides age-appropriate communication with students on instructional expectation and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
  • Manages allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
  • Works in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity, as assigned.
  • Ensures the classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning and that materials are in good condition and accessible to students, including but not limited to creating educational bulletin boards, web pages, parent/student newsletters, and other similar communication vehicles consistent with district practice.
  • Attends District department and faculty meetings and serves on District committees as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and guidelines.Participates in in-services and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
  • Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies District requirements but also satisfies personal expectation as a professional.
  • Attends established traditional school-sponsored activities (i.e.: back-to-school night, open house, and other activities customarily attended by classroom teachers and/or faculty members).
  • Participates in curriculum related and programmatic activities that are a part of the regular District program, including but not limited to field trips or overnight camping trips that have been historically part of the school curriculum and programming.
  • Communicates and collaborates with administrators, fellow Bargaining Unit Members, and support staff.
  • Attends IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.
  • Establishes partnerships with the community as appropriate in support of the academic program.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and adheres to the Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Follows any other job-related instructions and performs other job-related duties directed by the Building Principal.
