Job Designation

The CMM Programmer / Inspector A is responsible for the utilization of the CMM machine and software programs to measure complex marts.

Performs and verifies compliance to acceptance test procedures. Must be able to work from complex blueprints, inspection specifications and verbal or written instructions with minimal supervision.

Must have good working knowledge of military and commercial specifications, particularly ASME Y14.5M (dimensioning and tolerancing), non-destructive test methods and trigonometric equations.

Sets up and performs mechanical, visual, and first article inspection of machined parts, castings, forgings, gears, complex precision parts and complex precision electro-mechanical assemblies on the surface plate or CMM to determine precise conformance to drawings and specifications.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Programs Brown & Sharpe CMM using PC-Dims, Cad , and Solidworks software programs to measure complex machined parts, castings, forgings, gears, high precision parts and complex precision assemblies.
• Provide CMM programs and inspection setups for use by mechanical inspectors.
• Performs and / or verifies compliance to acceptance test procedures.
• Performs in-process inspection.
• Performs final inspection to verify compliance to company and / or customer specifications.
• Must use standard inspection measuring equipment and make proper inspection setups from drawings, specifications and inspection instructions without supervision.
• Capable of reviewing and interpreting vendor material and process certifications for compliance.
• Perform calibration on in-house tooling such as micrometers and calipers.
• Mechanical, visual, and first article inspection of machined parts, castings, forgings, gears, precision parts and complex precision electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Performs and / or verifies compliance to, acceptance test procedures.
• Performs final inspection to verify compliance to company and / or customer specifications.
• Must use standard inspection measuring equipment and make proper inspection setups from drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions with minimal supervision.
• Capable of reviewing and interpreting vendor material and process certifications for compliance.
• Able to perform self directed source inspection.
• Able to do surface plate set up on the complex parts.

Job Specifications

Skills :

• Experience in programming Brown & Sharpe CMM using PC Dims, CADD and Solidworks software to perform mechanical inspection.
• Working knowledge of military and commercial specifications for materials (aluminum / steel), protective finishing, heat treating, non-destructive testing, with main focus on ASME Y14.

5M (dimensioning and tolerancing), ANSI / ASQC Z1.4 (sampling procedures and tables for inspection by attributes), MIL-STD-100 (engineering drawing practices) and ANSI / NCSL Z540-1 (calibration systems requirements), ANSI B92.

1 (involutes splines and inspection), ANSI / AGMA 2000 (gear classification and inspection handbook), FED-STD-H28 (screw thread standards), AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements.

AS9102 first article inspection. Interface with internal and external customers. Well versed with standard inspection measuring equipment and operation of CMM (3 axis measuring machine).

Experience in Military / Aerospace Industry is a must. Machine shop experience preferred. ASQ Mechanical Inspector professional certification preferred.

Education : High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with completion of PC Dims CADD technical training and minimum 8 years related experience in programming and mechanical first article surface plate and CMM inspection.

Computer skills : IBM PC basic knowledge, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, PC Dims, Solidworks, CAD

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations.

Pay Range : $28.22 / hour min to $42.35 / hour max annual.
