Holland America Line is Hiring a Manager, People Partner Near Seattle, WA

Job Description

We’re looking for an HR professional to fill this role. You’ll be responsible for driving strategic human capital plans that support organizational goals, providing HR guidance and counsel to leaders, managers, and the People Team team. This will also include talent mapping, organizational design and change, employee engagement, compensation, organization effectiveness, managing performance and conduct, employee relations, and talent acquisition. The People Partner Manager is also responsible strategic planning for Shoreside and Shipboard assigned client groups while fostering team growth and developing the next generation of HR professionals. They will provide recommendations and guidance to all levels of the organization including Shoreside and Shipboard and remain closely aligned with key leaders and their business units. They will be a dynamic, strategic, and progressive partner and a clear communicator with a strong consultative style. A strong understanding of the business environment and objectives, as well as HR’s role in helping employees and leaders reach those goals, is imperative. Strong relationship building, collaboration and driving an inspiring and engaged culture are critical to success. In this role, they will need to be seen as and operate as a trusted coach, consultant, and mentor who uses innovative and pragmatic approaches to problem solve. They will also ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources, federal and state requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic business partnerships to shoreside and shipboard leadership and executives across both Holland America Line and Seabourn brands focusing on performance management, leadership development, talent management, succession planning, and conflict management.
  • Acts as advisor and point of contact for business leaders. Provides coaching on behaviors and techniques to achieve leadership excellence. Partner with businesses to execute workforce strategy for short- and long-term organizational objectives.
  • Analyze and concisely present information to the management team to support and enable business growth and sound decision-making.
  • Develop programs to increase employee engagement, provide change leadership, talent development, career & succession planning, retention and supporting process improvements.
  • Play a key leadership role in reinforcing a culture of growth, innovation, and calculated risk-taking through the application of human capital strategy, tools, and processes. Implements people practices within a work group or organization. Works with organizations to execute long- and short-term strategies involving people policies (diversity, employee engagement, divestitures).
  • Contribute to organizational business plans, vision, mission, goals, and business objectives. Establish an intimate understanding of the business, build and expand relationships with clients, and create close partnerships across HR, centers of excellence (COEs), and matrixed organizations.
  • Serves as a role model for company values. Foster a positive work environment by exemplifying core values every day. Assist senior leadership in consistently communicating the company's culture and directing it toward improved business results. Manage and develops at least one People Partner and/or Specialist.
  • Design and lead projects in collaboration with various cross-functional teams across the areas of Talent Acquisition, L&D, Compensation, and Benefits to ensure alignment on communications, projects, and best practices. This includes providing business insight through data analysis, research, and benchmarking. Design and deliver targeted solutions, including strategic planning, visioning, change management, and team building.
  • Evaluate inputs to determine possible systemic issues. Implement suggested changes by gathering resources and influencing organizational change. Investigate complex and unique employee issues and ensure appropriate disposition.
  • Actively addresses issues that may impact a larger population and require intervention or process improvements. Suggests and implements necessary changes to mitigate risk and ensure that employee perspectives are considered. Promotes a diverse and inclusive culture by supporting company employee initiatives.
  • Engages consistently with our “Culture Essentials” to foster an environment of open communication, trust, and respect whereas taking reasonable risks and accepting disappointments serve as learning opportunities.   • This position may occasionally support shipboard initiatives and/or shipboard Employee Relations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or related field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, PHR highly preferred
  • 7 years of Human Resources experience at HR Business Partner level or above
  • 7 years of experience with coaching at the manager level, focus on performance management, employee relations and data analytics/reporting
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated project management and change management experience and experience driving programs independently
  • Demonstrated analytical and data management experience with experience translating data into action planning
  • High level of influencing skills
  • Foundational knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management
  • Must possess strong skills/experience in business partnering
  • Effective business acumen skills and abilities that will allow the quick grasp, immersion, and understanding of business issues, needs, and imperatives.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and delivery with proven, measurable results for managing change.
  • Strong talent management, leadership development, performance management, and org dev. experience.
  • Demonstrated success in creating an environment of trust with clients where integrity is unquestioned; can effectively utilize negotiation and conflict resolution skills when needed
  • Ability to analyze HR metrics for use in developing goals and driving key business strategies and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills with all levels of the organization required
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures business compliance
  • Interpersonal and communication experience and building relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Base Salary Range: $90,700.00 to $122,500.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
