We have a wonderful opportunity for a Blood Collections Specialist Supervisor to join our Donor Services team at Bloodworks Northwest. The incumbent will be responsible for the dynamic leadership of a diverse blood collections team, ensuring that departmental goals, blood collection targets, and the mission of Bloodworks are achieved. Ensure Bloodworks, FDA, AABB OSHA/WISHA standards are met to maintain the safety of the blood supply. Directly supervise up to 20 non-exempt technical staff that perform whole blood and automated collections. Responsible for the daily operations of the fixed site and/or mobile unit(s), including oversight of the general operation of the fixed site and vehicle maintenance. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - As a Bloodworks Supervisor include, but are not limited to: Within the department:Assist in setting department goals and objectives consistent with Bloodworks’ missionConsistently model values of Bloodworks and coach for the same expectation; contribute and build upon current practices and procedures in support of values, mission, and goalsEnsure that department documents, procedures, and actions comply with all laws, regulations, standards, and policies. Ensure that staff follow these requirements.Hire, develop, and retain successful teamEnsure customer needs and expectations are metWith staff, determine performance goals and provide ongoing feedbackMonitor the successes and challenges of the teamEnsure the department supports a balance of employee personal and business goalsAdhere to the department budgetRecommend and maintain proper staffing levels to carry out department objectivesRecommend systems, resources, and procedures to achieve the department’s successAs a member of the management teamProvide timely and honest feedback to fellow supervisors regarding how the team functionsChallenge and offer support to fellow supervisors to ensure each department is contributing to the success of the organizationMaintain confidentialityPRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES – As a BCS Supervisor include, but are not limited to:Supervise the Blood Collection Services staff that performs whole blood and automated collections to ensure regulatory compliance with all procedures. Maintain complete employee records and ensure quick action on all coaching opportunities and performance issues. Ensure the overall smooth donor flow and operation of the fixed site and mobile. Arrange for routine and emergency repairs of the fixed site and the vehicles. Collaborate with DVR to develop and implement strategies to meet blood collection targets and effectively manage staff and equipment resources. Collaborate to resolve problems and create a safe and positive work environment. Act as a resource for Blood Collection Services staff, Bloodworks staff, and the medical community to interpret policies, procedures, and criteria.Actively participate as part of the BCS Leadership Team to recommend methods to improve cost-effectiveness, improve quality, increase efficiency, and achieve departmental goals. Conduct regular individual and team meetings.Ensure the team is providing a high level of customer service to donors, other departments, and any other stakeholders. Follow up on customer service issues by handling elevated, complex, and mid-level donor concerns and make recommendations to enhance the donation process.Provide timely and honest feedback to the Director and Managers about issues related to the operation and needs of the fixed site and/or mobile unit(s).Promote staff growth and development. Ensure staff participation in activities such as mentoring, continuing education, and in-servicesPrepare monthly reports from departmental statistics and goals.Perform similar and incidental duties as required.Perform other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:BA/BS/BSN strongly preferred in health science or related field.A minimum of two years of supervisory/management experience, or 2 years experience in blood collections and/or donor or volunteer recruitment is required. SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS include, but are not limited to:Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is required.Demonstrated strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.Demonstrated strong and effective written/verbal and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, and ability to learn Bloodworks’ computer programs using AS400, BBCS, and other business function software.Required physical abilities include:Manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination for performing computer skills, data entry, and documentation.Ability to operate a vehicle, and visit various sites that may not be handicapped accessible.Ability to adjust to a variety of working conditions.Physical ability to bend and reach and to perform repetitive motions of hands/wrists.Physical ability to speak and hear using a telephone.Physical ability to lift, push, and pull 60 pounds or more.WORKING CONDITIONS:Schedule flexibility is required to meet the needs of fixed sites and mobiles, including evenings and weekends.Travel to other sites required to attend meetings. Ability to work scheduled holidays and weekends.Work includes direct exposure to blood-borne pathogens. As this is an essential position with direct responsibility to donors and/or patients, the incumbent should be prepared to work extended and/or consecutive shifts and/or possibly at a different location during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies.Benefits and Perks:Employees regularly scheduled for 24 hours per week are covered by medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, with family coverage also available.
