Maintenance Technician

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading manufacturing client in Sumter, SC, is seeking experienced Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians to support a high-volume industrial production environment. This role is best suited for hands-on technicians with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability, not limited to preventive maintenance or minor repairs.

Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician – Job Summary

Pay: Up to $31.00/hour

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (2 days on, 3 days off)

Training: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Day Shift Training Required)

This position requires strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing equipment failures, performing complex repairs, and restoring production equipment to full operation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex industrial equipment and production systems
• Perform preventive maintenance as needed, but primary focus is breakdown response and system troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 120V up to 480V industrial power systems (up to 1,000V environments)
• Work with motors, drives, sensors, and control systems in production equipment
• Troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled equipment at a functional diagnostic level
• Repair mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and drive systems
• Diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic system issues including pressure loss, leaks, and component failure
• Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
• Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring equipment failures
• Ensure equipment is returned to safe, efficient operating condition
• Support emergency repairs and minimize production downtime
  
  

Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician – Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance OR
• 5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability (must be able to explain repair process clearly)
• Experience working with 480V industrial electrical systems required or strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of PLC-based equipment and industrial controls
• Ability to diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
• Strong problem-solving skills with a structured troubleshooting approach
• Effective communication skills and ability to explain technical processes clearly
• Basic computer skills for documentation and maintenance tracking systems
