The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

 Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing all assigned financial duties relating to the property, such as month-end closing, general ledger and bank account reconciliation, forecasting, creating and monitoring internal control procedures, and special reports.

Essential Functions:

Duties are as follows but not limited to:

•  General accounting related duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
• Completes applicable documentation accurately and according to Zachry Hotels policies and procedures.
• Assist with daily, weekly and monthly transaction reconciliations.
• Participates in month end closing, including JV preparation and direct entry made into the General Ledger system.
• All general ledger accounts must be reconciled and corrections made.
• Assist the other areas of Finance (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, General Cashier) as needed and as assigned.
• Answering guest inquiries through telephone or email and ensure that all guest interactions meet the highest level of service.
• Maintains office organization including but not limited to: office supply ordering, filing monthly documentation as outlined in retention schedules.
• Other duties as assigned.

Special Skills:

• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
• Basic mathematical skills and considerable skills in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
• Must have advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work large complex programs with great attention to detail while continually presenting a positive attitude, great customer skills and a passion to succeed.
• Ability to listen effectively and to speak English clearly.
• Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
• Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
• Analytical abilities to make sound decisions.
• Knowledge of basic hotel operations.
• Knowledge of standard hotel policies and finance and internal controls.
• Ability to coordinate and cooperate with other departments regarding credit activities.
• The ability to manage credit operations.
• Ability to organize detailed information.
• Strong leadership skills.

Education And Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 -3 years of previous accounting and finance experience required.
• Prior hospitality experience required.
