The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Overview

The Receiving Clerk supports the Culinary Department by ensuring all food, beverage, and kitchen-related deliveries are accurately received, inspected, documented, and stored in accordance with hotel standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to supporting exceptional culinary operations behind the scenes.

 What You’ll Do

Receiving & Quality Control

• Receive and verify all food, beverage, and culinary supply deliveries against purchase orders and invoices.
• Inspect deliveries for quality, freshness, proper temperature, damage, and accuracy.
• Reject or report products that do not meet hotel standards.
• Communicate discrepancies, shortages, or quality concerns to the Executive Chef and Purchasing promptly.

Food Safety & Storage Standards

• Ensure perishable items meet required temperature and food safety guidelines upon arrival.
• Label, date, and rotate all products according to FIFO standards.
• Store products immediately in designated dry storage, refrigeration, or freezer areas.
• Maintain compliance with HACCP and local health department regulations.

Inventory & Documentation

• Maintain accurate receiving logs and documentation for all deliveries.
• Assist with monthly inventory counts and reconciliation processes.
• Monitor stock levels and notify culinary leadership of potential shortages.
• Support sustainability efforts by reducing waste and monitoring packaging practices.

Organization & Operational Support

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area, storage rooms, walk-ins, and freezers.
• Safely operate pallet jacks, carts, and other equipment used for moving deliveries.
• Work collaboratively with culinary and stewarding teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support kitchen and hotel needs.

What You’ll Bring

Required Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of experience in receiving, warehouse, inventory control, or food service operations preferred.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Experience in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment preferred.
• Familiarity with food purchasing systems or inventory software a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, temperature control, and proper storage practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Clear communication skills with chefs, vendors, and hotel departments.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by delivery schedules.

Licenses or Certificates

• Food Handler Certification required.
